If there's a blue pill and a red pill and the blue pill is half the price of the red pill and works just as well, why not pay half price for the thing that's going to make you well?...Part of what we want to do is make sure that those decisions are being made by doctors and medical experts based on evidence, based on what works - because that's not how it's working now."Anyone else notice the use of "red" and "blue"? He's saying "If you take the red (GOP) pill it's just too darn expensive. But, if you take the blue (socialist) pill you'll be okay."
How absolutely screwed up are these people.
And, yes, I do think there was deliberate use of those colors by the speech writer.

You've said you want a plan providing improved care for reduced cost, and extending health insurance coverage to perhaps 50 million more Americans. Actually that would be extending health insurance coverage to perhaps 50 million more residents.

His comments on the blue pill/red pill seem to be so simplistic and childsh. Like most of his speeches, there is no substance or facts.
There is a real expensive/cheap prescription medicine issue: name brand versus generics. In George Bush's awful Medicare drug benefit, he did not require that seniors had to get generics. I think this would have saved a lot of money.
Look at Wal Mart -- they offer many generic prescriptions for $10 for a 3 month supply. This is cheaper than most employer based prescription benefit plans.
But Obama talks in stupid, simplistic generalities, "red pill/blue pill", instead of name brand/generic.
