Sources told KMJ News that Sandra and Gary DeBartolo were stabbed to death, and that their throats had been slashed.

That directly contradicts Kerman's police chief, who told reporters last week that the couple had been shot to death.

The back story on this case is that the DeBartolo's house was under surveillance by narcotics officers. The house was under surveillance as being involved in marijuana trafficking. (One of the DeBartolo's was a retired teacher.) Some people showed up and a short time later, the police received a call from the house and a man said his wife was being murdered. The suspects came out and the narcotics officers pursued capturing them but one got away. He turned himself in later.

Singh and Johnson are not illegals. I am uncertain about Reyes, but I think he also is not illegal.

Even so, I hate the fact that people do this kind of stuff. A sense of entitlement apparently means you can off someone because you want to. Let the pogroms begin

The alleged killer, Johnson, wanted 20 pounds of marijuana and they wouldn’t let him have it. But your point is a good one. Not worth killing for, and not worth dying for.

47 plants would barely produce 20# unless there is more to the story then reported in the story and that may well be as the Narcs were watching the place. On the other hand were the deceased related to the DeBarlolos of 49s fooseball fame?

We've had convenience store clerks killed for 20 bucks.

OTOH, when drug exchanges/alliances/busts go wrong, well, you've got some folk with a lot of money on the line, or folk ripped on drugs, or LEO's real intent on staying alive and/or getting the BG's. Kinda volatile situation all around.

I’m at a loss here. This isn’t the DeBartolo’s of the SF 49ers is it?

I don’t know if they were related to the San Francisco DeBartolo’s. As for their operation, I think there was more than met the eye, and it probably been going on for a while. Their son has been named a person of interest by the police.
