New Photos Released From Flyover Blunder

Responding to dozens of requests from the public, the Defense Department has released 146 more photos from the infamous Air Force One flyover that struck fear in thousands of unsuspecting New Yorkers in April.

The photos are posted right on the Pentagon's Website, defense officials said today. The Pentagon also released a heavily redacted flight manifest.

The April 27 photo-op caused quite a fright in Lower Manhattan and New Jersey, as many people who had lived through the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks thought the city was again under siege. Workers poured out of office buildings as the planes buzzed the city near the Financial District.

Local officials in New York and New Jersey had not been informed of the photo-op, which cost some $328,000, and the lack of communication and needless worry caused by the incident led to the resignation of Louis Caldera, the Obama official behind the stunt

Hmmm..... One hundred forty six photos on the Pentagon website of this flyover ... and NOT ONE of the Alabama Air National Guard F-16 that the New York Post printed the next day (lower photo).

Recall this post and be sure to see Red Tails - coming to a theater near you later this year.

” The Pentagon also released a heavily redacted flight manifest. “

Or, “Party Invitation List”

The folks on the ground in NYC, who saw the plane in flight, must have been paralyzed for a moment in time. What a cruel and thoughtless and unnecessary expense KNOWING the president would be flying into NY in the future at some point.

Link to the Pentagon website to view all 146 photos released (thus far).

Again, I pulled the second photo off the New York Post's website. It's the only photo to show much detail of the smaller aircraft.

Oh, btw .... the Post in April made no mention of ANY significance of what appears to be a RED TAIL.

To quote jagusafr in April:

"I’m not even sure what to think if this was indeed support for a private, commercial movie venture about the first Black fighter group that ends with a Tuskegee a/c escorting the first Black president... Given this president, I think it’s a poke in the eye to the Tuskegee legacy. Those men were absolute heroes. I’ve had the opportunity to chat with (Dr.) Roscoe Brown - all of the squadrons in the 340th Flying Training Group are Tuskegee legacy squadrons and I had the privilege of being around when they were reconstituted - and he and the other men faced challenges so much greater than the current occupant that it’s shameful to try to draw a comparison." ~ Colonel, USAFR

Why is manifest redacted? Are there any names mentioned?

I always schedule my expensive photo-ops for hazy, dull, ugly days. That’s when I get the most attractive photos. None of those magnificent towering cumulo-nimbus set against a crystalline azure sky for me! Who needs drama and impact when you can have listless, dull and flat?

Yep, it sure is. Here's another newly-released photo that's making the rounds:

I am amazed, that all the people, they claim to have briefed......and no one,not one functionary, thought " We might scare the hell out of the city".

It seems implausible, unless they were told to be quiet or this is all made up after the fact.

Thanks for posting the link to the DOD pdf.

Having gone through the entire set of photos, NOT A SINGLE ONE carries any indication of being taken by professional photgraphers. Even an overcast day can be compensated for by the use of filters, i.e. haze, polarizing, and a few others.

More telling is that NONE of the photos have any dramatic impact of the plane and NYC. In fact, for the vast majority of the photos, one would have to look very carefully and be familiar with aerial photos of NYC to identify them as such.

Nor, do any of them appear to have been enhanced with the normal “darkroom” procedures of increased contrast, burning in or dodging of problems of uneven lighting.

The long delayed release certainly cannot be attributed to processing. It can only be because they calculated that short attention spans have removed them from most of the publics memory. The redacted passenger manifest also smells to the skies.

Why haven’t the MSM pressed on this issue? (I know, I know...what a stupid wuestion :)>)

Does anyone else remember the democrats attack on Bush for his photo of his fly over NY after 9/11? I do. It's one of the many reasons I switched from independent to republican.
