Guess where I won’t be shopping this Christmas season...
How do they intend to enforce this? If somebody parks his Hummer there are they going to be towed?
JC Penny is off my shopping list. Sorry to the folks working there.
Here in So CA. some chain restaurants are doing likewise...next-to-the-door spaces are “Reserved for Green Vehicles”.
I park my SUV in these spaces. It’s dark green.
This kinda crap really pisses me off. let's see, I ride my bike to work. I usually only drive on the weekends and that's when we all pile into the car (not a hybrid) to go somewhere together, often shopping. Monday morning, the environmentally unfriendly non-hybrid is parked and I'm back to pedaling my bike. I can get away with one tank of gas a month.
Yet, I have to pay for my parking because I'm not environmentally conscious like the hybrid owner who drives to work every day?
I rarely jump on the boycott wagon but I certainly would not patronize this shopping center and I'd let them know exactly why I'd be taking my business elsewhere. And in this economy, I'm sure there's many establishments who would happily take my business.
It never ceases to amaze me how idiotic some companies can be. Didn’t WalMart and Ford try pandering to the Diversity/Gay crowd here a while back? I don’t remember that going to well. I always thought putting out a good product at a good price and running your business in an ethical manner would get you ahead. Maybe I’m outdated, but it seems like more and more businesses are getting on these political bandwagons, and with very few exceptions, I don’t think it is a smart business move.-—JM
Gee, my compact gets 50% better mileage.
Gonna let me park there, Penneys...?
I’ll be sure to park my big SUV in one of those spaces whenever I see one.
I wonder if people are ever going to become angry at constantly being manipulated: i.e. “if you do X we will give you Y” The media has its teasers: i.e. “wait until we tell you about Z” Frankly this is becoming tiresome. I stopped listening to one radio station because they over used the technique.
Ever seen those spots that say subcompact only. My Honda Pilot just barely fits in those spots.
Our college just built a building that is going for Leeds Platinum certification. The two closest rows to the building say HOV, while the next two rows say AFV. It stands for High Occupancy Vehicle and Alternate Fuel Vehicle. I think it’s a Leeds requirement. I have no idea if it’s enforceable, like a handicapped space is.
Since my car doesn’t qualify for cash-for-clunkers, I guess I can park in one of the ‘green’ spaces with a clear conscience.
I guess I’ll drive my evil, diesel-swilling SUV to another store. Morons.
Better yet......maybe I’ll park my evil, diesel-swilling SUV ON TOP OF a hybrid parked in that “hybrid only” spot. Yeah, that’s the ticket. I’ve always said those hybrids are nothing more than a speedbump. Morons.
Are they going for LEED-Existing Building certification? That would earn them a point or two...
Why limit these spaces only to hybrids. My Mazda 3 gets nearly 30 mpg in city driving and in highway driving gets better mileage than my wife’s hybrid Mercury Mariner.
Thanks, J.C. Penny, for letting us know where you stand.
Greenism is a perversion of the religious sentiment.
By the way, you’re off my Christmas shopping list. And I’ll tell all my friends.
Saw this on the news last night. Thought about driving the ol’ Suburban up there just to park it and walk the dog around the area. Would be nice if it was actually green, but it’s not. It’s black. I guess I could claim that my black car was being discriminated against due to its color...
