Come on now, there's a lot of factual information regarding the various weapons, plus you get to see them in action.

Oh don't get me wrong, I like the Gunny. I watched two episodes last night and will be watching it in the future. But I look at Ermey on "Mail Call" or "Lock and Load" and then I look at his masterpiece of a performance in "Full Metal Jacket" and it's just a little disappointing.

Big difference in production, takes, and budget between a feature film and a TV series. They have to do it on the fly or it wouldn't be cost effective.

I've been involved in some low-budget educational films, and the question is 'can we get by without a retake?' Especially when you've got amateurs involved, you take what you can get.

Every time I watch the boot camp part of the movie, I'm ROTFLMAO. Brings back so many memories of my days at Parris Island (Platoon 102, 1959)
