I’m overweight and I never go to the doctor. I exercise three times a week. I had an MRI (I paid for) a few years ago and my arteries are clean.

And do you think the people that smoke in order to stay thin - because we equate “thin” with “healthy” - are in any better shape? I don’t wake up coughing black crap out of my lungs every morning. My mom did when she was smoking hard.

And will they highlight the studies that have recently come out showing that people that have a little extra weight on them can handle sickness better? And also do better in car crashes - less damage to internal organs in the abdominal and chest areas?

I am sure they won’t.

So will they now have “Fat” and “Nonfat” sections in restaurants and public transportation...or just an all out ban?

You will not have any such outward discrimination, except a mild stigma attached to the overweight. That is, until they go to their ObamaCare representative, and are told that because of their eating habits, the government will not spend money on their health care.

Told ya so. I saw this coming 20 years ago.

I used to think Americans had a problem with obesity, but then I visited Benidorm, a favorite English holiday spot on the Spanish Costa Brava....

We have NOTHING on them. When one’s diet begins with breakfast consisting of bakes beans, eggs, biscuits and gravy that excessively caloric by my Southern standards, and doesn’t improve from there, well, let’s just say the result isn’t the most pleasing to the eye.

By the end of the (curtailed) trip, not only was I proud and eager to state that I was from the US, and NOT England, but also eager to [try to] speak any language but English, regardless of how little I knew/bad my accent was.

Just thinking ....

My insurance will pay for my heart attack, my diabetes and other weight induced illnesses and diseases.

Insurance will NOT pay for stomach bands, weight loss programs, exercise programs, Doctor sponsored weight loss clinics or anything to help the obese lose weight.

So, what is Obama gonna do?

Oh dear, yes, I have been hearing the knives being whetted. All these carefully timed reports on how much obesity is costing us.

Hmmm, even I have to admit I would really love to hold an auto-da-fe on those misbegotten superobese characters seen on the Discovery Channel shows. Lord only knows how much they cost us.

But then, that’s the reasoning, it’s all for the greater good. Health care for the healthy, the elderly, chronically ill, profoundly disabled are too expensive. Once government is in charge of health care, every sick person is a liability to be eliminated. Everybody who doesn’t lead a healthy lifestyle will not be entitled to care.

Of course, gays with AIDS will be the magical exemption.
