As recess begins, the heat is on

Before rank-and-file House Democrats bolted for summer break last week, Speaker Nancy Pelosi gave them each a three-by-eight-inch pocket card and told them never to leave home without it.

For Pelosi and her top aides, the two-sided, blue-and-maroon glossy — a personalized cheat sheet to help Democratic members tell their constituents what they’ll gain from health care reform — is the key to winning the critical month of August.

Republicans have their own summer strategy: With Americans growing wary of plans for health care reform, GOP leaders are telling their members to take the fight straight to the Democrats.

“You have to capitalize on the anxiety in the voter base,” a House GOP leadership aide said. “How are [Democrats] going to defend a health care bill that the American people hate? You just ram it down their throats and knock their teeth in.”

Amid all of the late-night negotiations about health care reform, House leaders on both sides of the aisle spent much of the past week and a half coaching members on how to handle the August recess.

Aides say Pelosi’s playbook is simple: Make the benefits of health care reform tangible for the folks back home.

“The point you are making to [members] is that people are split when you ask them if they support Obama’s health care reform plan,” said one senior Democratic aide, citing polls released last week. “When you ask them the same question and include the specifics of the Democratic health care reform plan, the numbers are much higher.”

“You tell [people] what’s in it for them — that gives them a reason to support it.”

Democratic aides acknowledge that the health care debate has become mired in baffling details and interminable committee hearings.

i was forced on it out of my retirement health ins which i was completely happy with...now they only cover me as secondary...but they only pay what medicare covers not what they once covered...many of my health issues are not covered by medicare...so now my secondary retirement health won’t cover it any more. before i qualified for HSA for my expenses and now i can’t even do that any more...i am really getting screwed and my health care cost are now much higher...just when i needed the cover...this is all BS...and i had no viable options and didn’t know that until i came of age.

We’re mad as hell, and we are NOT going to take it any more...in the words of the 92 “HEROs” aboard United Fight 93 that crashed in PA on 9/11...”LETS ROLL”

Don’t give them a chance to use the pelosi cheats...

Scream and Yell them down: “JUST SAY NO”.

We did that yesterday, here in my town, and our yellow belly lizard crawled back in his car!

The pocket card contained an 800 number for ACORN/SEIU and other union shills to show up at Townhalls. We need to get as many people out there.

I have an idea. How about every single working man and woman in this country taking a little ‘RECESS’ of our own the day these clowns decide to vote on this POS bill? Try this one on: No phone service, no buses, no no electricity, no water, no cabs, no retail, no plumbing repair, no carpentry, no roofers, no construction, etc. Think that kind of ‘solidarity’ will get anyone’s attention?

Notice the writing technique at work here, designed to make it appear that it is Republicans who will do the ramming, rather than the Demfascists.

I have advocated that since Jan 20, 2009.

The inside the beltway- Washington elites think we are just “the little people”, and that they can do without us.

A total nationwide strike for a couple of days would really be interesting. Have plenty of popcorn on hand for watching the breakdown on TV.

Maybe the TV won’t be working. Go to the ‘march’ yourself. You will be in good company. AND ... it will be interesting as you say. It will also be COSTLY!!!! Workers can bring this country to a screeching halt for a couple days and then we’ll see who is REALLY in charge here!!!! He...heee!! Can you say S O L I D A R I T Y?!!!!

Sadly I fear a majority of Americans don’t really care who provides the health care as long as they think somebody else is paying for it.

We need to follow this line of reasoning, http://recessrally.com even if we set up our own dates and times.

That’s not true. Polls show, polls manipulated by people who skew the numbers, show the majority of Americans DON’T want nationalized health care. The politicians choose to ignore us.
