Sarah Palin, meet Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (Juan Cole at Salon... Mother of all BARF!!!)
Salon ^ | August 3, 2009 | Juan Cole

Posted on 08/03/2009 12:27:54 PM PDT by SolidWood

Aug. 3, 2009 | Is Sarah Palin America's Mahmoud Ahmadinejad? The two differ in many key respects, of course, but it is remarkable how similar they are. There are uncanny parallels in their biographies, their domestic politics and the way they present themselves -- even in their rocky relationships with party elders.

Both are former governors of a northwest frontier state with great natural beauty (in Ahmadinejad's case, Ardabil). Both are known for saying things that produce a classic Scooby-Doo double take in their audiences. Both appeal to a sort of wounded nationalism, speaking of the sacrifice of dedicated troops for an often feckless public, and identifying themselves with the common soldier. They are vigilant against foreign designs on their countries and insist on energy and other independence.

But above all, both are populists who claim to represent the little people against wily and unscrupulous elites, and against pampered upper-middle-class yuppies pretending to be the voice of democracy. Together, they tell us something about dangerous competing populisms in an age of globalization.

Well, he is more Caucasian than Arab. He is also more Arab than Black. I think there is a lot of self loathing in play here.

Your point?

1) What "horrible things about Obama" did the Sarah crowds "yell"? The faux BS drivel the MSM and nutroots claim to have heard, although the Secret Service rejected these claims?

2) What "point" of this comment is "interesting"? The false claims about Palin?

Which one... The salon.com link? No problem here... if no one else has trouble, it's your computer that needs a clean-up.

“But above all, both are populists who claim to represent the little people against wily and unscrupulous elites, and against pampered upper-middle-class yuppies pretending to be the voice of democracy”

He is describing himself as the object.

But I could be mistaken, did A-jad ever denounce yuppies?

Thanks for the pic for all of us.

Now we know whom not to give sanctuary to when the crap hits the fan in the near future.

He can use his frying pan or something similar to protect himself.

McCain, on the other hand corrected an uneducated supporter who said Obama was an Arab. McCain took the time to set the deranged woman straight. “

Obama’s Daddy was a Muslim.
There are many Muslims in Africa of Arab heritage.

Guess we have to ask the Mormon church who did up a complete lineage for NObama to give us a clue as to whether Nobama’s Daddy was Arab or other. He was for certain a Muslim.

Wrong. This is an internet legend that has been posted often. Barack Obama's father is a Luo, a BLACK Kenyan ethnic group that did not do much intermixing with the Arab traders.

You do know that Arabs are "caucasians", right? This is why we should use the term "European-American" instead. "Caucasian" is rooted in 19th century junk science.

Again, this is a foolish internet rumor. Obama's father was a LUO, who DID NOT intermix with the coastal Arabs.

Arab = a semitic ethnic group.

Islam = a religion, only 15-20% of whose members are ethnic Arabs. The largest majority Muslim nation, btw, is Indonesia.

According to Jonathan Calt Harris, Cole “is blindly anti-Israel to the point of being an anti-Semitic conspiracy theorist, an apologist for radical Islam, and someone who despises American public opinion.” Cole has supported the Israel divestment campaign by numerous American colleges, on grounds that Arabs are “mistreated” by Israel.

Cole’s views are shaped by his fundamental belief in a conspiracy of Jewish “neo-conservatives” who dictate U.S. policy toward the Middle East. His recurrent theme is that a nebulous “pro-Likud” cabal controls the American government from a small number of key positions in the Executive Branch. He never names the leaders or organizations behind this conspiracy, but vaguely associates it with AIPAC, MEMRI, and Jews in the Bush administration.

Odd. No such problem here (or apparently other posters).

Make sure to scan your PC for malware.

If anyone else has this problem, tell the mod to disable the link.

“But above all, both are populists who claim to represent the little people against wily [he wishes] and unscrupulous [fits Cole] elites, and against pampered [Cole] upper-middle-class [Cole] yuppies [Cole] pretending [Cole] to be the voice of democracy”

Fits him well.

“”disregard for the facts as understood by the mainstream media,”

then-

“”Right-wing populism is centered on a theory of media conspiracy,””

Tag line material.
