(AP) - HIROSHIMA, Aug. 6 (Kyodo)
Hiroshima Mayor Tadatoshi Akiba urged people around the world to join the city's effort to abolish nuclear weapons in response to U.S. President Barack Obama's appeal for a world free of nuclear weapons, as Hiroshima marked the 64th anniversary the 1945 U.S. atomic bombing Thursday.
"We support President Obama and have a moral responsibility to act to abolish nuclear weapons," Akiba said in the Peace Declaration at a commemorative ceremony at the city's Peace Memorial Park, reiterating Hiroshima's conviction that "the only role for nuclear weapons is to be abolished."
"To emphasize this point," said Akiba, "we refer to ourselves, the great global majority, as the 'Obamajority,' and we call on the rest of the world to join forces with us to eliminate all nuclear weapons by 2020. The essence of this idea is embodied in the Japanese Constitution, which is ever more highly esteemed around the world."

‘Hiroshima Mayor Tadatoshi Akiba urged people around the world to join the city’s effort to abolish nuclear weapons’
You’re 64 years too late, pal...
This is no joke.
‘State Department is working quietly on a side trip by Obama in the Autumn (October) from Tokyo, to Hiroshima, to tour the museum and issue an apology.
This is no joke.’
Let him issue an apology. He’s apologized to everyone else except Officer Crowley, why stop now? Let Zero apologize for actions which saved the lives of American soldiers and ended a gruesome war. I’m sure everyone associated with the U.S. Military - active and retired - will understand that Nobama despises them. All he’s doing is digging himself deeper into a hole.

Doesn’t the long-legged mack daddy ever stay home ?
We had a choice in WWII, wipe out a city with one bomb, or wipe out a city with thousands of bombs we took a shortcut. I dont see the problem.
How about a 20-hour workweek and free beer for all?
I wouldn’t want to drop such devastating bombs on Japan today, but if they tried to invade us again, I’d want to do it all over again x2.
Apparently this major doesn’t realize that one of the only reasons he even has a country, is because we are willing to defend it... with our threat of nukes.
Japan is sure as hell a peaceful place now. Guess that 12kt Hank Williams Jr. “attitude adjustment” worked out, huh?
He’s probably still miffed that they got nuked.
2009 Japan has it's naive, flaming libs.
2009 Japan has it's conservatives (hawks) most open to nuking up.
And they hate each others' guts.
Kinda like the US where we have different flavors, too.
Here he is the mayor of the cleanest, most modern city in Japan, and still he complains!
Terrific remark, “Doesnt the ‘long-legged mack daddy’ ever stay home ?”
We shall always be indebted to Dr. James Manning for calling Zero on his actions, words, and policies. I had to look up the name Dr. Manning gives to Zero, and if I am not mistaken “mack-daddy” refers to a black who is a successful, flamboyant pimp of hookers.
Keep up the good work, and as always Mahalo; de mo, arigatai.
I'd like to build the world a home
and furnish it with love
grow apple trees and honey bees
and snow white turtle doves
“Here he is the mayor of the cleanest, most modern city in Japan”
Nothing old in that town, huh? Snicker snicker,,
Other than spelling mayor wrong, what upset you about my post?
