Seriously, one of the key arguments used by the defenders of the bill and those who say that statements that end-of-life counseling will not be mandatory is an intentional sidestepping of the same language that indeed requires patient’s doctors to have such conversations with those of a certain age to receive payment under Medicare/Medicaid.
Now, if the doctor is required to inform the patient of such avenues, how then can one say the patient can avoid being “counseled?”
