Pelosi's visit a lightning rod
Denver Post ^ | August 7, 2009 | John Ingold

Posted on 08/07/2009 6:44:23 AM PDT by La Lydia

U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, visiting a Denver clinic for the homeless Thursday, insisted that Democrats are united in backing health care reform and brushed off a question of whether raucous, conservative-led protests against reform have hurt the effort.

"This is called the legislative process," she said during a brief question-and-answer period after touring the Stout Street Clinic in downtown Denver. "There are differences of opinions. This is the democratic process. . . . This is a very big initiative, to change health care in America."

Pelosi's visit...came at a time when the national debate over health care has escalated into a figurative shouting match. The shouting match became a literal reality outside the clinic Thursday, as people skeptical of more government involvement in health care traded chants and slogans with others who support sweeping reforms...

In a conference call earlier in the day, state GOP chairman Dick Wadhams blasted House Democrats' plan as a "back-door way" of destroying private health insurance and creating a health care system that is solely government-run. "Single-payer," Wadhams said, "will drive up the cost of health care and drive down the quality. It will end up rationing

Republican U.S. Rep. Mike Coffman, from Aurora, said "Mrs. Pelosi and her Democrat colleagues yet again failed to explain how they plan to pay for their trillion-dollar government takeover of our health care system."

Pelosi, though, drew support from Democratic U.S. Reps. Diana DeGette of Denver and Jared Polis of Boulder, both of whom toured the clinic with her.

"People should not be scared by scare tactics," said DeGette, who said the plan must not add to the federal deficit. "They should find out the details of this legislation."

Pelosi said Democrats' health care plan would not lead to a single-payer system...

Sounds like the Democrats "managed" this one pretty well, but the Republicans got out in front beforehand. Denver Post actually tried to present both sides, except they neglected to report that Diana DeGette is a raving loony Socialist. Pelosi lied: "Pelosi said Democrats' health care plan would not lead to a single-payer system... " and a lot of people will die.

“They should find out the details of this legislation.”

Freak’in jerk. They don’t have any idea what’s in the bill either. None of them have read it.

Which is turning into fist fights, which will in effect turn into another Civil War.

And guess what Nancy, YOU WILL LOSE!

Perhaps it would be useful it the Congress Critters who have stated they will vote for the bill actually found out the details as well. So far the supporting legislators either have not read it or cannot defend what parts they have read.

Change healthcare? I thought it was only reforming health insurance.

I was at this rally and found my picture on the front page of the Denver Post's Metro section this morning. (my sign was getting wacked by a SEIU sign carrying nutjob)

This wasn't a Town Hall - no, it was Nancy Pelosi sneaking into the back of a homeless clinic for a visit. La Pelosi didn't even deign to wave to the crowd gathered outside - perhaps she was put off by all the boos.

My account of the event and a slideshow can be found here if you're interested.

La Pelosi came to Denver and...a moonbat attacks

Cupcake Nancy seems to forget that these are democratic rallies with her beloved minions. Don’t like it when they shout you out, but when President Bush has the same problem it’s just the cupcake eaters venting, right Nancy?

But they don't want to hear about those differences.

Comrade DeGette had a tele-town hall last night so she didn't have to hear any opposing ideas.

I am so sick and tired of seeing the regurgitated talking point that all the protesters are hacks that just shut everything down by causing a ruckus - I think we'd absolutely love to debate the finer points, but just like the AARP representative who ran away, we can't even have a discussion with those who represent us...now they just have their staffers filter everything on the phones.

That pic on the Denver Post is classic. Thug with the HOPE shirt trying to mangle your sign, right in front of a “Change we can believe in” sign.

Was that gray-haired lady behind you trying to pull her off of you?

That would be me - and I'm being called a bleach blonde botoxed bimbo Republican in the comments section. It's funny how the kind, caring and concerned libs resort to childish insults (or violence) when you get the best of them.

I only WISH I had botox.

And they totally missed my pearl homage to La Pelosi and are making fun of those, too. I thought it was kind of funny myself.

Yes. And she was the sweetest lady. We struck up a conversation (along with the gal in pink) and were having a great time until the nut job attacked.

I thought you looked pretty good for a victim of Obamoid thugs! The one in the t-shirt next to you, however... foundation garment issues. It is one thing to insult us, and it is another to impugn our dermatologists!

"People should not be scared by scare tactics,"

So when we here Bambi say things like "if we don't pass Healthcare reform, we will go broke", or, "the economy will collapse unless we pass Porkulus", we should just ignore him?

Good advice.
