I haven’t noted a upsurge lately, there have always been nutballs on the right as on the left, they’re the self defined “true conservatives”. I was in a very liberal town recently.
On no less than 4 occassions I saw this combination of bumper stickers on one of typical liberal cares with 100 bumper stickers:
Ron Paul for President
Obama/Biden for President
“Coexist” (with all the religion symbols)
Free Palestine
There is only one intellectually consitent linkage among those topics -— Jew hatred.

I'm as sensitive to anti-semitism as anyone on earth, and I don't agree with Ron Paul on a lot of things, but I honestly think it's unfair to tar him on this point.
