The March has been moved to begin at 11:30, so that gives us more time Saturday morning for a leisurely breakfast before we start moving to Freedom Plaza. I think you will be at the Sheraton in plenty of time to join the group. :)

Hi,
This is from post # 139:

A room has been reserved off of the banquet hallfor children. It will be the parent’s responsibility to check on their kids.

Children over 10 years of age attending the Convention will have a full ticket cost (aside from those children who are handicapped and will be with their parents during the banquet.)

If anyone, particularly along the eastern states and Florida, would be interested in taking Amtrak to DC, let me know. I'll post some info on it and how it's just a great way to get to the capital for this convention and rally.

Plus, there's no airport sweat when you pull in to Union Station and then to the Sheraton. I loved my Amtrak experiences in my many trips from the Tampa Station to Washington, starting with the March for Justice almost a decade ago.

And please, save the subsidized Amtrak whacks for another time. I'm trying to be helpful to folks here.

I just got my convention ticket and I already have a room at the Sheraton reserved from September 10th through the 14th so I’m in. I plan to take Amtrak from Penn Station in NYC to DC and then hop on the hotel shuttle.

Despite all the pots and pans thrown at Amtrak, taking the train to DC from Florida was smooth sailing, fun, interesting......loved the passing scenery, the food was good, the roomette clean and comfortable and the service superb. I would never go to DC any other way.

Have a great time at the convention, American Number!

Our two younger kids and I went from Worcester MA to Orlando FL on Amtrak, back in early 2003. We had a wonderful time! We didn't get the sleeper berth, so we just kicked back in the comfy regular chairs. When I woke up in the middle of the night, I just took my book, and bottle of water to the lounge car and spent some time there. Our son woke up and joined me, and we just sat for an hour or two, each reading our books.

It's extremely relaxing to me; SirKit hated it the one time he rode the train, but then, that was before laptops, and he didn't even bring a book! Silly man! ;o)

READ ALL ABOUT OUR EXTRA-ADDED ATTRACTION, SPECIAL GUEST SPEAKER, JOYCE KAUFMAN !!!

With the unexpected withdrawal of one of our convention speakers, we're honored and pleased to announce the addition of an All-Star conservative who will address our conventioneers at the Saturday night banquet.

Joining our previously-announced speakers, Col. Allen B. West and Mr. Andrew Wilkow, will be Joyce Kaufman, an extraordinary and exciting Florida radio personality.

Joyce has been a fixture on WTFL 850 for over 18 years. She's gained a huge and loyal following due to the fact she knows right from wrong and doesn't mind telling her audience about it.

She considers herself fiercely independent. She's not ashamed of putting America first.....like real liberals USED to do, and our weak-kneed politicians CLAIM to do.

She's an outspoken critic of the "new left" who she believes views America as a failed nation populated with helpless, ignorant people in need of re-education and government rescue.

She's sick and tired of those in power who are afraid to stand up for our nation's Judeo-Christian values and the values of those who through their faith seek only to better themselves and their fellow man.

Joyce supports our only Middle Eastern ally, Israel, with every fiber of her being. She warns that America needs to stand by Israel and that Americans need to wake up to the stealth jihad going on all over the world, including here in the USA.

A proud patriot, she finds America to be the greatest country on earth. She not only supports our troops, she reveres them!

Passionate, spiritual, articulate, angry at times, Joyce also knows how to make an audience laugh. But don't mess with her! She carries a .375 magnum (she's a BIG supporter of the Second Amendment).....and she also carries a BIG voice!

Fasten the seatbelts on the chairs around your banquet table, freepers. You're in for a wild ride on the Joyce Kaufman Express as she blows you away with her outspoken wit and wisdom.

Tickets are still available for the convention banquet with its star-studded galaxy of speakers and entertainers. You don't want to miss a single thing we've got planned for you at our FR Convention/National Tea Party weekend! Wow!

JUST A REMINDER:

The Sheraton is allowing us to “refill” rooms that were canceled due to illness/family illness. We have four rooms left that are available at the FR group rate.

If you know someone who wants to book at the Sheraton please tell them to FREEPMAIL me with their name and phone number. I must call the person in charge of our block of FR rooms and give her the information. She will then contact the person directly to take the information to reserve the room at the group rate.

I hope folks who have not purchased their convention tickets will do so before the deadline on 9/8. The earlier the better to help us with our planning and our deadline to give the hotel a head count on meals for the convention events. Thanks so much!

See you in DC! Jean
