BTW what's with the "partner" business. They could have said his wife or the baby's mom.
I wondered the same thing..
I'm guess they are now referring to all significant others / spouses as "partners" so as to not stigmatize the gay community.
More PC. If they're going to use the term partner for same-sex couples, they have to do it for all.
I've stopped watching HGTV because I'm sick of hearing phrases like "not married to that sofa." I've heard it on some of the cooking shows too - "marry the ingredients," etc. Sheesh, like there are no other words to explain what they want to say. All blatantly geared toward making marriage mean anything other than what it is IMO.
It is “insensitive” to use the words “husband” “wife” or even “boyfriend” or “girlfriend” after a country has declared that one’s gender is immaterial to a “partnership”.
We are pretty sure that the “partner” left at the hospital was female, aren’t we. We are just not allowed to acknowledge that fact, or we may possibly be “offending” someone, or even indulging in a little “hate” speech.
And yet people continue to claim that legalizing single sex “marriage” will have “no effect on the rest of us.”
Maybe they're cowboys...howdy, pardner.
