Apparently, from what I remember about this story, Zero wrote about living in Hawaii with his mom and being raised for a while in Hawaii after he was born and after his father left for Harvard. While there is certainly nothing wrong with his mom going to school in WA 15 (or even 25) days after be was born, this story (if true) punches another hole in an already factually-challenged account of his upbringing. I don’t believe there’s anything in ‘The Legend of Zero’ that has him living in WA state.

Well, first off, he was too young to know. His mom obviously left him with Grandma. But then she was only in WA at college one semester, so she was back with him thereafter. That is still long enough to do serious irreversible damage to a baby.
