Some geographic items I just researched. The range of the newest and longest ranged Comet in 1961 was 6700 klics. The air distance betwen London UK and Vancouver BC is 7600 klics. Disclaimer. The air travel website doesn't specify Polar route, but I think it's a fair guesstimate that they are using polar route calculations.

My information is it is about 5,000 miles over the polar route with the ability to land in Greenland for refueling. I suspect that a stop in Greenland for those Kenyan safari vacationers was in order anyway.
