CNN) -- A U.S. soldier arrested in connection with the killing of a Mexican drug cartel member in El Paso, Texas, allegedly worked as a hit man, court records show.

Michael Jackson Apodaca, 18, a soldier based at Fort Bliss, was one of three men arrested Monday in connection with the shooting death of the mid-level drug cartel member, who also worked as a drug informant for the United States, according to a complaint affidavit and local reports.

Police identified the other suspects as Ruben Rodriguez Dorado, 30, and Christopher Andrew Duran, 17.

The three men each face one count of capital murder, El Paso police said.

The victim, Jose Daniel Gonzalez Galeana, was shot multiple times in front of his home May 15.

The infiltration of our American military, especially the US Army, may be one of the most under-reported stories of the last 5-10 years.

Didn’t CNN repeatedly run stories that only members of white supremacist gangs were joining the military to further refine their trade?

I remember articles about 15 to 20 years ago where black gang members were taking some pretty heavy weapons from the military. Also, stolen military weapons were and are being sent to Mexico. I vaguely remember that even artillary pieces were intercepted here in California by American authorities. The artillary was on its way to Mexico. The aforementioned may have been reported in the L.A. Times. I can’t really remember the details.

This is what happens when recruitment standards have to be lowered.

I have friends that live on Ft Hood in Killeen, Tx. I think there are about 50 thousand troops stationed there. They say that there are gang members in the Army living on post. Family members in gangs live there in base housing. Unfortunately I think maybe the war has caused the military to lower the standards somewhat and take some undesirables. Someone I know is with the base EMS and said it is a real problem.
