Sure and the legislature had the votes to override the entire bill if they wanted. Right now the (R) in the state senate is 12.5% and in the house it’s 10%. Not quite sure what the rules are but I’m guessing there wasn’t a whole lot of bargaining power.

Bogus excuse trotted out everytime this discussion takes place.

He still could have acted out of principle and conservative ideals and vetoed it, he did not.

Let's assume you're right. That would mean that Mitt not only signed a bill that had these terrible provisions (his view) but staged a happy photo op with Ted Kennedy and repeatedly bragged about it. What does that say about him?

On a related matter, what ratioanlization do you have to justify Mitt’s support of TARP. There was no veto problem on that issue. In fact, a majority of the House initially OPPOSED it DESPITE Mitt’s stand. Had Mitt opposed the bill, maybe, maybe just maybe he could have stopped it.
