In another exchange with Churchill Astor once said to him, “Winston, if you were my husband, I’d poison your tea!” Churchill immediately replied back, “Lady Jane, if you were my wife, I would drink it!”

Interesting enough, all the debating between Churchill and Astor was due to the fact that she was a notorious Leftist, and Churchill, of course was a staunch conservative. Churchill's uncle was the Duke of Marlborough, so it wasn't like he had to take crap from her!

Astor was one of the founders of socialism and the Labour party of Great Britain. I also believe she was an American who married into the aristocracy class, iirc.
