Rahm Emanuel, Obama's Chief of Staff, Wields Power Freely, and Faces the Risks (eerily perfect)
NY TIMES ^ | 8/16/09 | PETER BAKER and JEFF ZELENY, Carl Hulse contributed reporting.

Posted on 08/16/2009 7:39:55 AM PDT by Liz

BACKSTORY At a Little Rock restaurant, after Mr. Clinton was elected president, Emanuel ticked off a list of disloyal Democrats and other political enemies, stabs the table with his knife screaming, ''Dead!'' ''Dead!'' ''Dead!'' after each name.

Seven months after moving into the West Wing as Obama's COS, Emanuel is emerging as perhaps the most influential White House COS in a generation. But with his prominence in almost everything important going on comes a high degree of risk.

As the principal author of Mr. Obama’s do-everything-at-once strategy, he stands to become a figure of consequence in his own right if the administration stabilizes the economy and financial markets, overhauls the health care system and winds down one war while successfully prosecuting another.

If things do not go well — and right now Mr. Obama’s political popularity is declining, his health care legislation is under conservative assault, the budget deficit is at an eye-popping level and Afghanistan remains volatile — it is Mr. Emanuel whose job will be on the line before Mr. Obama’s.

.......it seems as if Mr. Emanuel is White House chief of staff, political director, legislative director and communications director all rolled into one. He has fingers in almost every decision, like who gets invited to social events at the White House and how to shape economic and foreign policy. He carries a notecard in his pocket with a list of things to accomplish and marks them off obsessively. He requires cabinet secretaries and all West Wing departments to submit written reports each week and returns them with terse notes in the margins.

As negotiations intensified on health care recently, he was a constant presence on Capitol Hill — one day alone, he was there 8.5 hours before returning to the White House to tend to other duties.

Eventually, rahm is going to get caught at some illegal manipulation and bring the whole administration down. It’s just a matter of time. We are only 7 months into this administration and zero is already crashing

If so, how did Rahm outline his ties to financial institutions involved in the federal bailout? His activities on the Freddie Mac Board? Did Rahm ever know (and email) Madoff? Was Rahm involved in Clinton's pardon of tax cheat Marc Rich?

When ObamaCare bankrupts all the health care Insurers - and dem committees are the only ones left handing out life and death decisions - you might have to go before a committee to beg for a spot on the list for your mother... Rahm is attracted to big money power - could "health care" be next for him?

Obama to Rahm: “That’s what I pay you for, muh fuggah! You supposed to warm me AHEAD of time, not after the fact! And make sure those teleprompters are secured from now on, you hear?”

Is Rahm queer?

“What was Rahm “Stinkerbell” Emanuel’s involvement in these bonuses, and how much of a bonus did Rahm get? “

It is easier to nail jelly to a tree than it is to trace the money these crooks move around to each other. Where is all the stimulus money? Why is 17+ billion parked in New Jersey? Where is the interest on this money going to? Who is getting it?

Looks like the Times is ready to throw Rahm under the bus in order to save their precious Zero.

I guess even the Times recognizes that the Democrats have bitten off more than they can chew, and someone will have to take the fall before Big 0’s ratings are improved.

ACORN certainly has the possibility to be our equivalent to the “brownshirts”.

Just a brief point to clarify: Hilter’s rise to power was with the “brownshirts” which were the SA, Sturmabteilung, not the SS. The SA broght him to power and then Hitler discarded them. The SA was a brutal paramilitary organization and was formed from the lower class - the unemployed, etc. The SS, Schutzstaffel, were elite military units and these came from the middle class. Most of these units fought as front line military divisions.

But, ACORN is not the SA. ACORN is full of fat, dumb people who follow orders, but cannot think. And we, are not unarmed Germans.

I still think he works for the Clintons-—the perfect fox in the henhouse. His job is make sure Obama fails paving the way for Hillary in 2012.

“But, ACORN is not the SA.”

No, 0bama’s “civilian defense force” would be equivalent to the SA (if not worse - Gestapo?). The one he wants to be “as powerful as the military”.

There’ll be a serious change in the tenor of things if Congress were ever to fund such a thing. It boggles my mind that any American would even consider it.

We need to cut him off at the knees in 2010.

“We need to cut him off at the knees in 2010.”

To be clear, that should probably read “We need to cut him off at the knees in the 2010 elections” - no threat of violence! lol

ACTION RESPONSE EMAIL chairman@gop.com
SUBJECT Rahm Emanuel intimidating elected Americans

BACKSTORY A report in Politico revealed dual citizen Rahm Emanuel retaliated against Americans who criticized Obama's economic stimulus package.

According to Politico, Emanuel “launched a coordinated effort" to intimidate Republican-Americans after a Sunday TV show in which the stimulus legislation was described as a failure. Emanuel apparently colluded with WH officials to maximize levels of intimidation.

Dual citizen Rahm directed that letters from Cabinet secretaries be sent to Republican-Americans (according to two administration officials).

This is supported by the timing, structure, and content of each letter. Not only were the four letters all sent the day following the TV remarks, but they were also remarkably similar in tone and sentence structure, Rep Issa informed Emanuel.

Americans commend Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) for deploring dual citizen Rahm Emanuel's scare tactics, specifically employed by Emanuel to intimidate Americans in the United States Congress. Issa needs to take this a step farther. It is a violation of law to attempt to intimidate or threaten a member of the US Congress.

This stuff is hard to read and even harder to comprehend.

Audacity, audacity, audacity! Obama had it right from the beginning.

Nothing coming of Issa’s letter nor Cornyn’s about flat@whiteyhouse. They were written at the wrong time, just before recess, and will be forgotten before reconviening. That is unless they can both somehow keep these alive.

Someone needs to stand up at one of these townhalls and say to Obama - or any of the Democrats who are brave enough to hold a townhall - that this idea that somehow these protesters at the townhalls are “uncivil” or “mob-like” is a joke when our govt is being run by a man who routinely uses the f-word, flips the bird, and sends dead fish to his political enemies. Emanuel epitomizes incivility.
