The Obama Administration : What Went Wrong
NRO ^ | August 17, 2009 | Victor Davis Hanson

Posted on 08/17/2009 9:16:58 AM PDT by RobinMasters

We are witnessing one of the more rapid turnabouts in recent American political history. President Obama’s popularity has plummeted to 50 percent and lower in some polls, while the public expresses even less confidence in the Democratic-led Congress and the direction of the country at large. Yet, just eight months ago, liberals were talking in Rovian style about a new generation to come of progressive politics — and the end of both the Republican party and the legacy of Reaganism itself. Barack Obama was to be the new FDR and his radical agenda an even better New Deal.

What happened, other than the usual hubris of the party in power?

First, voters had legitimate worries about health care, global warming, immigration, energy, and inefficient government. But it turns out that they are more anxious about the new radical remedies than the old nagging problems. They wanted federal support for wind and solar, but not at the expense of neglecting new sources of gas, oil, coal, and nuclear power. They were worried about high-cost health care, the uninsured, redundant procedures, and tort reform, but not ready for socialized medicine. They wanted better government, not bigger, DMV-style government. There is a growing realization that Obama enticed voters last summer with the flashy lure of discontent. But now that they are hooked, he is reeling them in to an entirely different — and, for many a frightening — agenda. Nothing is worse for a president than a growing belief among the public that it has been had.

Americans need to be very vigilant: Obama and his loathsome COS staff Rahm Emanuel are very calculated in their use of power. As dissent among the populace grows, they are capable of plotting staged events to boost their advantage. If these two arch-manipulators perceive there isn’t measurable fear in the hearts of the people, they will create that fear to solidify their power. They know people will succumb to fear and will relinquish their God-given liberties when they are fearful.

==========================================

Obama's "healthcare reform scam" is just the tip of the iceberg. Here's a short list that is fueling America's spiraling rage.

There’s (1) Obama’s endless Czar politburo, (2) the loathsome Rahm Emanuel and Robert Gibbs, (3) Third World takeover (amnesty/illegals/La Raza/ Sotomayor), (4) smarmy Barney Frank posturing on finance issues, (5) letting Sen Dodd go scot-free w/ VIP mortgages,

(6) Obama's billion dollar financing of ACORN's Civilian Security Force, (7) trillion dollar bailouts of bonus-rich businesses vacationing at luxury resorts, (8) a self-absorbed jetlining Congress more concerned with perks and privileges than constituents’ concerns,

(9) Americans' disgust with being called Astroturf, The Brooks Brothers Brigade, being told to "get out of the way."

CITIZEN ALERT Obama/Rahm are purposefully antagonizing large groups in middle America, goading us into civil unrest. This would give these America haters an excuse to declare Martial Law.

How will they do it? Easy. Obama has given ACORN billions of tax dollars to form a Civilian Security Force to silence the populace, and march us to reeducation camps.

Nothing is worse for a president than a growing belief among the public that it has been had.

Except maybe kicking us when we are down. The apology tour probably would have been praised five years ago. But in this climate, you do not trash the USA and expect the people not to despise you.

Thanks to “Mack Daddy” the dumb-o-crat blood bath starts in 2010 and continues through 2012.

I think her 2012 campaign began about a year ago when she knew she was beat. She may have even lost on purpose, if she could see the coming economic situation and decided that she didn’t want to be associated with it. Better to lose the primary without kicking and screaming, take the SoS job to look like a team player, then come out in 2012 and say, “Look, you picked him and I honored your decision, but it turns out he’s not up to the job and it’s time to put in the A team”.

She couldn’t use the classic Clinton campaigning tools against him, and found out that unlike the hubby people just don’t empathize with her. She got out played at her own game, or probably just didn’t see him coming. But she ain’t down for the count.

It will probably be Kuchinich......
Where has the little big mouth been on health care? During his campaign for reelection he went to nursing homes and senior meetings warning everyone that republicans were going to take away their social security, why isn’t he warning them about democrat ‘end of life’ counceling starting at age seventy five and death panels?

...what do you suppose Sarah Palin and Barack Obama have in common?

They both loathe John McCain?

Glibness and cunning. The aforementioned are the only two attributes “The Divine One” possesses.

Yeah, he's about as glib as Mike Tyson.

They want our economic problems addressed, not our economy reshaped. They want health care improved, not rebuilt from the ground up.

All things the federal government and socialism cannot do and should not do.

“..what do you suppose Sarah Palin and Barack Obama have in common?

Do they? McCain got Obama elected, and promises to work with him on amnesty.

Sarah gave McCain $$$ recently from her PAC...she only gave to two candidates..both of them open border advocates. I would have liked to see her support a conservative instead.

And while the productive classes pay more of their income, and while government grows and entitlement expands, there is a sense that what follows will not be thanks for either taxes paid or benefits received, but even more anger that neither is enough and that much more is owed.

Whenever the question is asked, “How much should I give?” The only answer is more, more, more...
The looting must come to an end! They have just run out of my money!

Mind saying what locality?

No, I don’t think he is going to go quietly at all either. As long as he sits in that office with those advisors and chief of staff he will wield all the power he possibly can by any means possible and short of nothing.

This genie is out of the bottle and it will not be put back in easily.

Look who supports Americorps
Michelle Malkin

Created in 1993, this big-government boondoggle pays young people to “volunteer” in “community service” jobs at a cost of nearly half a billion dollars to taxpayers. The press release doesn’t cite liberal cheerleaders of the program. It cites Republican after Republican, from Arizona Sen. John McCain to Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum to Missouri Sen. Kit Bond and ex-Ohio Rep. John Kasich, praising Clinton’s monstrous creation. “Although Congressional Republicans immediately and frequently targeted the program for elimination, AmeriCorps’ success in providing service to thousands of communities and opportunities for nearly 200,000 Americans has changed the minds of many opponents,” the White House boasts. (snip)

Other GOP members of the Senate and House who initially opposed the creation and funding of AmeriCorps but now support it include: Utah Sens. Robert Bennett and Orrin Hatch, Mississippi Sen. Thad Cochran, Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley, Kentucky Sen. Mitch McConnell, Montana Sen. Conrad Burns, Ohio Sen. Mike DeWine, New Mexico Sen. Pete Domenici, New York Rep. Sherwood Boehlert, Montana Rep. Rick Hill, Mississippi Rep. Charles Pickering, and Illinois Reps. John Porter and John Shimkus.

Where have all the fiscal conservatives gone? Have these Republicans forgotten the countless examples of AmeriCorps-sponsored projects that paid participants to lobby for left-wing causes? Like the tax-subsidized AmeriCorps volunteers who lobbied against the voter-approved California initiative to put violent criminals in prison for life after a third violent crime. Or the recruits who showed their community spirit by disrupting Republican political events while working for the liberal advocacy group, ACORN. (snip)
