Authorities say five teen girls were repeatedly groped and threatened on a Portage school bus for months before the two 17-year-old boys and one 16-year-old boy were arrested in February.

A Porter County judge on Thursday ruled the repetitive pattern of behavior by the boys showed that they were beyond rehabilitation in the juvenile justice system. Juvenile Magistrate Edward Nemeth also wrote that there was a need to protect students and deter similar actions

From another article:

"Carnell faces three felonies and three misdemeanors. His felony charges are attempted sexual battery, strangulation and intimidation. He allegedly pushed a girl's head toward McCloud-Smith's genitals and threatened to kill another girl because he was "sick" of her and said he knew how to kill her and disappear so neither would be found. His misdemeanors are two counts of battery against two girls and criminal recklessness. The highest felony carries a sentence of up to eight years."

Nothing to see here. No hate crime...

That waste of breath would do something like that to a daughter of mine once and once only.

If it was my child he did that to, I am glad that he understands how people can be killed and made to disappear. At least he would understand what was happening to him.

Did you see the line in the article that this went on for MONTHS before the boys were arrested?

I think if these boys were hugged more as children this would not have happened.

If this was the case there needs to be heads rolling from the superintendent of the schools all the way down to the janitor if they knew about this and let it continue.

All my kids ride the bus, a single incident reported like this one would have those kids suspended or expelled and walking home so fast they wouldn't even know what happened.

Small towns around here don't take crap like this yet, thank the lord.

They ought to charge the bus driver and the school officials for letting it happen more than once, unless they somehow didn’t know about it.

I saw that...What kind of parents would continue to put their kid on the bus in the face of such blatant abuse? What does that say to the girls, that they don’t matter enough to have a safe ride to school and back? Ridiculous.

My little nieces went to a very good school when they were about 5 and 7, and within two weeks, they were knocked down and subjected to sexual remarks by two boys who looked remarkably like the gentleman in the article. We went to the school leaders and they said that the boys, who were twins, had a father who was a police officer and he “knew his constitutional rights.” These boys had done all sorts of things to other kids in the school and there was nothing anyone could do about it. So the next day we pulled them out and they are now homeschooled and are brown belts in Tae Kwon Do.

Most buses have videos on them. The bus drivers around here kick kids off for leaving trash on the floor, why weren't these thugs kicked off? Did the girls not report it? Where were the girls' parents for all those months? Lots of unanswered questions.

Actually, from the article:

"From what we can tell, the attacks continued even after the girls started complaining to school officials. An elderly bus driver, Terry Bursch aged 68, has been terminated and also faces criminal neglect charges for not reporting the abuse to authorities."
