Dittos to that! bttt
But I got so incensed when the AARP Rep said, from the beginning, that she would repeat the question & keep the microphone...
..I forgot my questions and simply wanted to address this and this alone.
At first she begrudgingly gave the mic to the first few people right in front of her...(& off to the side you could hear voices say...'Give them the mic'....
..but then she kept it the duration of the 2 hours and said she would repeat what they said.
She did, more or less, at first...but then she didn't even do that.
The problem as I saw it, was one of control...
If you control the mic, you control the event!!!
I was there, seated in one of the chairs for the first 100 (which is all the room was suppose to hold)...
..the remainder (of 300) were crammed along the sides of the wall, in the back, and into the halls...(watch the video, you'll see)
IT was HOT...the room was very close and stifling...
..and these senior citizens, who had taken the time and energy to be there, weren't even given the courtesy of a microphone.
There they sat, some with canes, wheelchairs, hearing aids and told to 'speak up'....
It just made me mad!
When I did speak, I addressed the discourtesy of making these folks....who feel they have no voice in the matters at hand....
..yell to be heard.
It made my point...
....I think she was there to cross it off her list...
..I think she was disingenous, insincere...
..and I am offended!
