The lack of coffee alone would keep me in the laws good graces.
Seriously, those prisoners working with the animals are getting something besides being outdoors. They are learning to care about another living creature, they are having to use their brains, and they are actually making a positive difference in the lives of the people adopting those pets. That has got to make a difference in at least some of them as well.
I agree. They are doing something positive; probably for the first time in their lives.
And they're learning a skill. Lots of work for Vet Techs. Heck, if nothing else, there's a need for dog walkers and kennel attendants, too.
They wouldn't get rich at it, but it's an honest living. Low stress too, I'd imagine.
