He told Lauer that being imprisoned and paying his lawyers has left him "financially devestated." Crime doesn't pay. Unless you work for the government.

"We just don't have the same kind of details on the federal inmates we book as we do with the regular city and county inmates," Sheriff's Office spokesman Roy Lyons told msnbc.com. "It's got to be that he violated some kind of condition. There's no other reason this would have happened."IANAL, but doesn't that sound like the guy has a prima facie case for a writ of habeas corpus to be issued? Or, is it OK for the sheriff to merely have a vague arrest warrant in hand without any more substantiating information in order for him to keep a person incarcerated?

Kinda sounds like they sent him back to prison because he embarrassed them on national TV. Not defending his gayness or his tax evasion, but this just goes to show how petty and vindictive prosecutors and judges in our judicial system can be. If they don't like you, you tend to be screwed regardless of innocence or guilt. Justice isn't blind, it's petty and vindictive and personal.

During his appearance on the "Today" show, Hatch, who is homosexual, insisted he is innocent of the tax-evasion charges and asserted anti-gay bias drove his prosecution. Sounds like it's time for a beer with Obama.
