Pink Floyd’s Waters narrates anti-fence film (anti-israeli fence)

JERUSALEM (JTA) -- Former Pink Floyd lead singer Roger Waters narrated a United Nations film about Palestinian difficulties caused by the security fence.

The 15-minute film opened Wednesday to mark the fifth anniversary of the International Court of Justice's opinion that the fence's route is illegal, the French news agency AFP reported.

Waters wrote the lyrics to the Pink Floyd album "The Wall."

Israel says the wall almost completely stopped Palestinian suicide attacks during the second intifada. The Palestinians charge that the fence cuts off Palestinian farmers from their land and will prohibit them from forming a state in the West Bank.

During the film, Waters spray-paints "We don't need no thought control" on the wall.

Don’t get me wrong, I like Pink Floyd. But this has to go into the “shut up and sing” category

Their land? Their land is in Jordan and Egypt and every other Godforsaken pit from which they were spawned.

Waters is an avowed socialist.

I’ve always thought that he was vastly over-rated. Gilmour, Wright, and Mason were the “real” musical talent in the band. In fact, before his death, Richard Wright was working with David Gilmour, performing on is “On an Island” album and going on tour with him.

I’m sure the film includes the suicide bombers and the fact that Ha mas and other groups attacks Israel with increased frequency when Israel makes concessions, Right??

David Gilmour is a lefty as well, but even he would tell Roger to STFU.

Hmm, "We don't need no education" seems more appropriate here. ;->

I used to love listening to Pink Floyd.

A couple of years back, I went to a Roger Waters concert, and it was FULL from beginning to end with his political liberal crap, complete with giant airborne pig that they released into the sky with “Fck Bush” (as I recall) written on it.

I went with a large group of friends, and I was steaming, but I didn’t want to ruin it for the others, so I sat there and kept my mouth shut.

To this day, I have not been able to listen to Pink Floyd. I cannot separate it now.

Its easy for him to say, he doesn’t live there.

If he decides to live there, he’ll learn to appreciate the fence pretty darn quick.

Yep...IMHO, Gilmour has grown old far more gracefully than most of his peers throughout the industry. I'd love to see him in concert at least one more time.

Hello Roger.
Is there anybody in there?
Just nod if you can hear me.
Is there anyone home?

Pink Floyd is great. But listen to Waters’ songs, especially on The Final Cut, to see he is a very bitter man.

Not his first interest in slamming Israel's leaders (see lyrics below)

Water's father Eric Fletcher Waters was killed in WWII when he was an infant. He has hated wars and perceived "warmongers" ever since. People like this are blind to evil such as Hamas because Israel is more powerful--therefore they must be the aggressor (like Argentina below).

Get Your Filthy Hands Off My Desert
Brezhnev took Afghanistan
And Begin took Beirut
Galtieri took the Union Jack
And Maggie
Over lunch one day
Took a cruiser with all hands
Apparently to make him give it back

The Fletcher Memorial Home
take all your overgrown infants away somewhere
and build them a home a little place of their own
the fletcher memorial
home for incurable tyrants and kings
and they can appear to themselves every day
on closed circuit t.v.
to make sure they're still real
it's the only connection they feel
"ladies and gentlemen, please welcome reagan and haig
mr. begin and friend mrs. thatcher and paisley
mr. brezhnev and party
the ghost of mccarthy
the memories of nixon
and now adding colour a group of anonymous latin
american meat packing glitterati"
did they expect us to treat them with any respect
they can polish their medals and sharpen their
smiles, and amuse themselves playing games for a while
boom boom, bang bang, lie down you're dead
safe in the permanent gaze of a cold glass eye
with their favourite toys
they'll be good girls and boys
in the fletcher memorial home for colonial
wasters of life and limb
is everyone in?
are you having a nice time?
now the final solution can be applied

Lovely endorsement of mass murder of the world's leaders back in 1983.

Israel’s wall wasn’t built to keep people in, it was built to keep suicide bombers out. It’s amazing how well the wall works keeping suicide bombers out of the country. Waters should stick to the things he knows about, like dropping acid and acting stupid.

Roger Waters is....Roger Waters. He wrote lyrics that reflect his views. Either you are a Pink Floyd fan, or not. I see nothing in the article that contradicts what Roger Waters has been writing about and saying for 20 years....

Agreed

“How can you have any pudding if you don't eat your meat?”

I love Floyd...Beatles....Stones....

I Love most of their music....but I cringe at some of their work and just don't listen to those songs.

Most artistic geniuses are a bit insane, and I use my built in crap filter as needed.

Easily the most pretentious member of Pink Floyd, and definitely in the running for most pretentious living musician.

Is he down with that "marriage" of 450 pre-pubescent girls?

Likes body parts on his pizza?

Want to see him hug a belt-bomber at the moment of climax.

Then tell us all about the horrors of the Wall.
