Both of those dates are so clear in my mind I can still remember where I was. I knew right away that TWA 800 was terrorism (I was living in NYC at that time) and I remember reading about how they were searching the dunes on LI for launchers. Then suddenly it all disappeared and we had this bizarre center fuel tank thing...
The U.S. is within its rights to have this terrorist hunted down and either killed or captured.
(1) There is no statute of limitations on murder.
(2) The terrorist never faced trial in a U.S. court so double jeopardy does not apply. He can be prosecuted, convicted, and sent to a little cell in a Supermax prison to live out whatever is left of his worthless life.
(3) As far as I know (not legal advice), deadly force can be used to apprehend a murder suspect who won’t surrender to law enforcement. That means U.S. authorities can and should kill him if they can’t capture him.
Obama should have the U.S. Justice Department act on this.

I remember the story of the Lockerbie breaking as if it were yesterday. Most vivid was the mother of one of the students returning for the holidays after their semester abroad. As she arrived at JFK to welcome her child back home she got the devastating news. She just fell to her knees in the middle of the terminal screaming, “my baby, my baby.” It was the most profound grief. The country wept with her.
I can guarantee you my kids got extra hugs that night, and held close a little longer. That feeling has never left me.

I am going to have to publicly state that I find the release of the Lockerbie bomber “highly objectionable.” Please understand that this is for public consumption on the home front. For some reason, many people here cannot forgive that guy. But please understand that I do not really intend to criticize you. I think it is great that you are releasing this poor man, and I will certainly do everything that I can behind the scenes to show support to you.
