In the spring of 2008, I sat at my high-school graduation ceremony, wearing my navy-blue robes, with every stole and honorary pin achievable, looking every bit like the overachiever that I am. My enthusiasm surely made me look like a typical graduate. But my future appeared very different from that of my classmates. I am an undocumented person. Six months after I was born, my family emigrated from Mexico to Los Angeles illegally—with little more than one suitcase but great hopes for the future. My parents wanted to give their two daughters opportunities that weren't available back home.

I object to the tone of this entire article.

The kid's an illegal alien who came here when she was six months old. She got herself accepter to Berkeley but had to drop out because it was too expensive.

Now she's back at community college, also heavily subsized by the state mind you, griping about a wonderful country that asks only that she pay the going rate for one of the country's elite colleges.

As per the usual liberal line, it's this country that is bad, not the corrupt cesspool from whence her parents fled. Disgusting.

Someone should tell her she is Welcome for the wonderful free high school diploma she has. Then show her the gate.

She must have learned about the Constitution in one of her honors classes. The whole citizen thing is pretty well explained.
