Secret Service confiscates cell phones of tourists near Obama

Heard this AM on the Michael Graham show, WTKK. Haven't seen posted elsewhere.
Obama and his lovely bride have created a Romulan Neutral Zone around themselves while on "Marxist Vineyard." Accordingly, as tourists tried to get within eyesight of the Obamas and their girls having hamburgers at a restaurant, the Secret Service confiscated all cell phones and cameras from everyone in and near the restaurant so that The Royal Couple was not disturbed by the riff raff on the Island. Further, the cook at the restaurant -- some sort of minor celebrity -- had to make the hamburgers, fries, and milkshakes while three Secret Service agents watched him to ensure no poisoning was attempted. Further, The Royal One ordered his hamburger medium-well, immediately infuriating the Hollywood elites there who insist that no burger be cooked more than medium-rare (legislation pending in Boston). If I hadn't heard it from Graham himself, I wouldn't have believed it.

Cell phones can be used for remote detonations, so.... there might be justification.

Michelle hands out tainted lettuce from her toxic garden as she tells the little folks they have to all eat healthy.
Meanwhile, in the last couple of weeks, she, her kids, and that Dumbozo POTUS, stuff their gullets once again with with hamburgers, fries, and milkshakes.
This makes me sick. Gawd, I hope we aren’t treated to ‘chelle in a swimsuit.

Seems odd, but the secret service are pros. Did they give the phones back? I wonder why they didnt simply jam cell phone and other frequencies if they were worried about a remote bomb.

Since we're paying for his vacation and WEE WEE wants PRIVACY, then why doesn't HE and his brood stay at that very expensive villa and practice HIS need for privacy. Doesn't he like the place? not even 24 hours have passed and he has to show his face in public.
Doesn't his wife or his MIL or anyone in his entourage know how to cook? Any nitwit knows how to make a burger or defrost one.
To: GOPJ
Yeah - Im OK with the Secret Service protecting President Obama - its what they should be doing. Yea, that is their responsibility all right, but it does not include trampling on the rights of citizens. As far as I know there must still be some kind of probable cause to search and confiscate private property, I don't care what you are "protecting". Cell phones are ubiquitous these days and just because the "king" happens to be in the vicinity gives no one the right to take property without cause.

Can't someone with a phone be located a-la GPS?
This may be the reason. They do not want his proximity known IMHO.

If they are so worried about their security and privacy, why are they inflicting themselves on others. Zero can’t stay out of the limelight for one day, much less 10 days.
I am sure someone is available to cook at his $50,000+ retreat. He should stay away from regular people and out of the media...this country could use the break.
To: pabianice
Do they have a right to confiscate private property from people in a public place? I’d take his picture and walk away. The SS can kiss my fat backside.

there might be justification ...um ... a cell phone is less 'dangerous' private property than say a gun which was allowed in the One's presence.
To: pabianice
Obvious the problem was CAMERAS. Most phones have cameras, so they were taken from anyone in sight, or even close thereto, along with all non-phone cameras.

“I wonder why they didnt simply jam cell phone and other frequencies if they were worried about a remote bomb.”
Yup, they could have used a “Mr. Wizard” to make sure you couldn’t transmit, and then people could keep their phones.
This is a first amendment violation, plain and simple.
To: KarlInOhio
I hope the chef used his world famous sun brewed mayonnaise on the burger LOL - my father was a bacteriologist - he said that during WWII when they couldn't get supplies of the medium normally used for growing bacteria, they would use Hellmans/Best Foods mayonnaise. He said it was probably the best natural growing medium for all sorts of bacteria. If we left a jar of mayonnaise open for 10 minutes, he threw it out, and he wouldn't eat anything with mayonnaise in it unless he knew how the stuff had been stored and handled. Seemed weird at the time, but he'd seen a lot of salmonella in his work. Curiously, he liked rare meat. But, he was fastidious about how it was handled and stored. We had surgical/antibacterial soap in the house long before it was commercially available.

They do not want his proximity known IMHO. How can anyone NOT know where a President is? Especially when he's out "in public". I mean he only travels with a hugh entourage. The line of black SUV's and SS agents is a dead giveaway.
