“How many people in this nation actually fast anymore?”

Good question. I’m not sure. I imagine quite a bit less do now than in the early history of nation. I have family and friends, who have fasted from time to time. Then again, I live in a conservative Christian area. I have heard sermons on this, but not often, as it’s not all that “popular”, and honestly not all that much “fun”. I think it’s difficult for our society, me included, to deny ourselves when we’re used to getting everything we want almost immediately.

I’d think our country would be much better if people did regularly fast and learn the spirit of sacrifice.

It certainly is not an easy thing to do at all, and I commend those who actually do fast in the proper spirit
