The public plan is treason. Anyone who votes for it is a traitor. Period.
“I plan on retiring early if this actually goes through, and Im not the only one.”
Who could blame you?
Can't speak for all, but if I were in that position, I'd tell the government to stick their license where the sun don't shine. A new career might be just the ticket. And I'll bet that a very significant number of doctors would leave medicine in such a situation.
Congress will simply do what Massachusetts did ... legislate that doctors MUST accept medicare, Medicaid (& any new gubmint program).
Not surprising, look how many do not take Medicaid patients.
WHO IS JOHN GAULT????????
“There are tons of doctors right now who went to foreign med schools and speak very poor English.”
...yes I’ve seen them...and right now I have the choice to avoid them....I want to keep it that way.
And accumulate a nest-egg. There may be reason to expect you'll need a few months sabbatical when this starts to shake out.
You are indeed a gentleman, but I don’t mind telling my age. I am 47. Normally, I would plan on working another 10 years or so to get my kids through college. However, if obamacare becomes a reality I will retire and open the quilt shop I have always wanted. Of course the lifestyle will change quite a bit - I will have to sell the big house (bought because that is the only tax write off we have), downsize the cars, and have the kids apply for financial aid/grants. I can live with that. Can the economy?
You can always refuse to take obamacare - you dont take any insurance of any kind if you retire/walk away from medical practice. There will be some shocked individuals when a significant part of our medical personnel do just that.
Talked to my financial adviser this morning. Got around to mentioning health care and he is already a senior but still covered by private insurance. His doctor has already told him that if they go on medicare (the existing program) both will need to find a new doctor. Since the doctor is also a neighbor, he hopes the doc will eventually make an exception.
must be a sc thing. in indiana, doctor bills medicare, medicare pays STRAIGHT TO DOCTOR. patient never sees this money.
And I’ll bet that a very significant number of doctors would leave medicine in such a situation
Wasn’t it Obama saying we need to find a way (his way of course) to INCREASE the number of family practice doctors? How is this going to do it?
I was laughing at the auto dealers who complained that the government was slow to pay cash for clunkers and some dropped out.
Doctors put up with this 24/7. In NY (and other parts of the country) there was a problem with Medicare reimbursement in 2008 since they changed carriers. Payments were delayed 8-10-12 months inexplicably for many doctors. Some doctors were complaining that they were going out of business. Finally when claims were paid you might get a few pennies interest.
It was unbelievable. And there was no one to talk to. The State Medical Society was trying to help but they had no one to talk to either.
Who can work or run a business under those conditions? No other business or professional would tolerate that kind of abuse.
“...cause something evil is coming down the path.”
Yes, it is.
Prepare yourselves.
They will have their ‘good crisis’ to waste not.
I believe it will happen sometime between October and March.
These are leftist terrorists that we have foolishly allowed into high office. There will be blood before it’s all said and done.
This explains it better than I can:
Medicare rules See example A in box.
Non-par (Non-participating - assignment) physicians don't get paid directly from Medicare. The money is sent to patient and doctor must collect from him. Most doctors, if they take Medicare patients at all, are PAR (take assignment) to guarantee at least the 80% of the approved charge will be paid directly from Medicare. The potential 9.25% increase in reimbursement is offset by billing and collection fees.
..... Hope you’re wrong on the next 12 to 14 years, but I think you absolutely spot-on with respect to the REAL reason why the Left are so focused on “univeral healthcare”. It has much less to do with public health than with CASH FLOW. Healthcare currently (as I understand it) accounts for about 1 in every 6 dollars spent in this nation and is on the increase. If the Left succeed in gaining control of the US healthcare system, it will be a very short step indeed for them to hijack this massive money stream.
bttt
Even though, as somebody of modest income, I will probably be hurt by their decisions, I back these doctors 100 PERCENT!
