The first of four alleged members of a black gang scheduled to be tried for murder for the torture-slayings of a young white couple has been found guilty on multiple counts by jurors in Tennessee.

WND reported just days ago when the trial was begun for Letalvis Cobbins on counts of first-degree murder and others for the 2007 deaths of Channon Christian and Christopher Newsom.

Carjacking victims Channon Christian and Christopher Newsom The brutalized bodies of the victims showed evidence that the attackers had tried to destroy DNA evidence by dousing Christian with bleach and Newsom's body was burned beyond recognition.

Jurors now will consider during the second part of the trial before Judge Richard Baumgartner whether the death penalty should be applied to Cobbins, 26.

According to a report in the Knoxville News Sentinel, Cobbins was convicted today of all crimes against Christian as well as first-degree murder for both deaths, but not of the charges involving the rape of Newsom.

"He raped my daughter. He's responsible for her murder. I've said all along he's going down," Gary Christian, Channon's father, told the newspaper.

LOL I've only had the pleasure one time and it came at a really inconvenient time. Fortunately, I was able to postpone it for 1 year because when I was called, I had a 4month old baby and was nursing.

The difference is your name is real, not conjured up out of syllables.

:)

My name is KristIn, so it’s always been unusual (despite not at all Irish, which is great with me). Despite the mini-craze with the similar name with EN (thanks to Lawrence Welk show baby born at same time), I was IN. Between that and my last name (rare but short, thankfully), I’ve ALWAYS had to spell out. Never mind my addresses of late, too.

Danielle is a nice name, though. Interesting, but not pretentious like so many today.

Of course, that’s JMHO. (Don’t get me going on the name thing!)

The jury gave him life without parole. They never knew (can’t prejudice the jury, you know) that this was not his first armed carjacking. This was not an isolated incident in his dysfunctional life.

RE: Letalvis Cobbins. Yet, Misha Davidson admits that Christian’s and Newsom’s killings were so savage, Cobbin’s late mother backed off helping him hire a lawyer.

“She didn’t want to get herself involved in it and not really know what happened.”

Beyond his murder and rape convictions, Cobbins faces new charges leveled while in custody; of assaulting Knox County Corrections officers.

February 2, a guard alleges, Cobbins attacked him as he was being removed from his cell and pulled him to the ground.

July 24, another guard alleges Cobbins struck him with a drinking cup after refusing to go into lockdown.

Court clerks say Cobbins faces hearings on the “behind bars” charges next Monday.

Family members say Cobbins father lives close by, but he was not in court Tuesday to hear his son pronounced guilty,.

Nor Wednesday, to help make the case for sparing his life. http://www.volunteertv.com/news/headlines/55186682.html
