There is no doubt that Chris Matthews is intelligent with a great memory and intellect. He knows his partisan political history. He is even capable of good analysis. I watched him for years. Not because I agreed with his partisan political conclusions but because he was *really* good at analyzing his fellow liberals' strengths and weaknesses. I learned a lot from him (when I wasn't blowing my top from his non-sequitor anti-conservative bashing.)

IMO: Chris lost it when the leftist media decided that "viewpoint journalism" - what we would call biased or yellow journalism - suddenly became "ethical" and even "necessary" in their eyes. Time Magazine, too, went this direction in addition to all of MSNBC and NBC in general.

In short, Chrissy went way, way overboard in indulging his "right" to say anything he d@mn well pleases about his side and his partisan enemies and he hasn't let up yet. Fortunately, the rest of the world is starting to hammer this leftist-made institutional media bias and is flocking to "fair and balanced" again, even if it isn't quite the disinterested, objective journalism that we all know is the only ethical, professional way of reporting unless you are a commentator.

Chrissy even thought he'd ride his ego into the Senate for awhile. I think it will be a long time before Chrissy Matthews gives up on his partisan pipe dream even when he finds himself living in the political and journalistic dust-heap with his ill-gotten MSNBC millions.
