What you used is OK, but the description I usually use for myself in the context of parodies is the one I have as my tagline here:

I might write a story about you and your song parodies for my Canada Free Press humor column. I’ll run it by you first via my online Google Word web page. That is a terrific tool. Won’t write it tonight since I already hear Mr. Sandman beckoning me.
