We expected a right-wing smear campaign against the late Ted Kennedy, but who knew the Republican attack machine could out-Twitter its progressive rivals? The late Ted Kennedy was enjoying a ride at the top of Twitter's trending topics earlier today -- following what we feel ought to be called the #MJbump -- but even this morning it became clear that a backlash was brewing, even in 140-characters-or-less land.
That's now become something of an orchestrated movement, as ghoulishly insensitive right-wingers bumped Ted out of the top spot. Well, one ghoulishly-insensitive right-winger, actually. It was Rush Limbaugh, and he helped move JAY-Z into the top spot by responding to Jigga's new diss track.

Mary Jo should be allowed to be buried in the National Cemetary......right next to Kennedy.
Libtards crying because people aren’t behaving according to their demands.
The comments on the articles page are slamming the “right wing” angle too. Hilarious.
Smear? So it didnt’ happen? Because that’s what a smear is. A smear is when you, oh I don’t know....file dozens of false ethics complaints in an effort to oust a governor. A fact is something that happened, such as a US Senator driving a car with his paramour off a bridge, leaving her to die, and failing to report it for ten hours.
RIP, MaryJo Kopechne.
I’m sure that there is an entire generation of Democratic supporters who have been unaware of the quality of the people they have been supporting. Kennedy’s death will be educational to many.
Think about Kennedy:
1. Dodged Korea through family connections
2. Murdered a young lady by drowning
3. Conspired with the KGB in an attempt to beat Reagan
4. Boldly lied and defamed Judge Bork
5. Participated in at least one date rape
What a legacy
“Mary Jo should be allowed to be buried in the National Cemetary”
With her baby that she was carrying at the time...
When public figures have incidences that display such an incredible lack of inner character - such as the Mary Jo Kopechne/Chappaquiddick thing, folks will hold their tongues while you’re alive, but once you’re gone, that thing that EVERYONE was thinking and not saying becomes your legacy.
Look at Nixon.
A: One. But not until 10 hours after it burned out.
Winning joke for Village Voice contest winner (and freeper) Hildy.
This morning, Frank Beckman of WJR am, Detroit, stated that one of the young females who worked on his show had never heard of MJ Kopechne and was absolutely shocked in disbelief when he told her about it.
So......looking for information on a historical event is a smear?
Oh, I’m sorry. I guess we’re supposed to throw a tarp over Mary Jo’s grave so as not to impede the hero-worship of old Teddy.
Bwahahahahahhahaha
There is NO equivalence between Ted the drunken murderer and Richard the dick Nixon

Ted Kennedy and Mary Jo Kopechne?
August 26, 2009 by Gary Davis
Mary Jo Kopechne was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Mary Jo Kopechne was a 28-year-old woman who worked on Robert Kennedy’s presidential election campaign in 1968. Her relationship with Ted Kennedy has never really been understood.
Clarrissa Pinkola Estesa has posted an article titled “Ted Kennedy and Mary Jo Kopechne.
What was the Relationship Between Ted Kennedy and Mary Jo Kopechne?

In this article we find out more about the Kennedy Clan: Probably more than most of us want to know.
It seems that the problems that Ted Kennedy had could be traced back to Joe Kennedy.
Joe Kennedy was a “not nice guy.” He believed that women were either to be used or to be kept pregnant.
He groomed his boys for public office and the girls for social work. However, because one began to show signs of promiscuity (Rosemary) he had her placed in a mental institution.
This was Ted Kennedy’s father, his role model and, he lived up to it.
He lived a most privileged life but got kicked out of Harvard for cheating.
Who Ted Kennedy really was actually has gone with him to the grave.
I don’t know how we can look at some of the evidence and think he was an honest guy.
Do you think his cheating ended in college?
To me who Ted Kennedy is (or was) has to do with the accident at Chappaquiddick.
Ted Kennedy did not report the accident until the next morning.
He was taking a woman home he was not married to and he survived the wreck while she did not. There was apparently 20 minutes of air when the car went down. That is time enough to go back and save someone.
Over the years people have made excuses for Kennedy saying he was “dazed.” Was he “dazed” all night?
What happened that night was that Kennedy’s training about women came out. Kopechne was a piece of meat.
Perhaps you feel I am being too rough on Ted Kennedy especially since he is dead.
No, I’m not.
Ted Kennedy didn’t have the courage to see that Mary Jo Kopechne’s family was notified of her demise. Rather he “hid out.”
And don’t day that money doesn’t have power. For something most of us would have done jail time for, Kennedy got a two-month suspended sentence.
Ted Kennedy ended up being the worst type of example of the abuse of power. Further, he disdained people, mostly women.
