Wonderful respectful commentary on the positive aspects of Senator Kennedy's will to live - so opposite that proposed in the health care debate.

I'm glad that Rush is in agreement with me, as I sent this letter to the editor to the Wall Street Journal a few days ago:

------------------------------------------------------

It’s unfortunate that Senior Statesman, Ted Kennedy, is forced to confront the political issues Massachusetts will face after his passing (What Ted Kennedy wants, Aug 21)

But suppose that Obamacare had been in place before his surgery. Would this failing elderly statesman have been allowed to undergo a couple of hundred thousand dollar open brain surgery? Or, would the review panel have made the decision to advise him of the pills available - and the morphine dosage for the increasing pain, and “Have a nice life”!

But, since he was in the Army in Europe for a few years, attaining the final rank of private, perhaps he would have been able to receive the newly revised VA pamphlet to make him ponder his future. This would have assisted him to decide whether his deteriorating condition would impair his future quality of life, so he might as well just go and take a dirt-nap.

But of course, all this is only conjecture, for as a politician, he gets to keep his gold-plated health insurance plan, and enjoy a few extra months of life. Obamacare and VA care are for the unwashed masses.

A Shepard
