Drinking with Ted
Cowboy Confessional ^ | 8/26/2009 | Guy Smith

The passing of Ted Kennedy has tormented me all this long day. It started with drinking whiskey for breakfast.

...

Let Teddy not be remembered as a great man, for he wasn’t. Laud him not for being bipartisan, for he did so only to incrementally advance his autocratic nightmares. And let him not bask in the glow of his older brothers who had some notion of right, whereas Teddy knew only expediency.

We should remember Ted Kennedy for those elements of his character that defined him best. For accusing a Supreme Court nominee of ...

I think I’d like to pour a bottle of fine Irish Whiskey on Kennedy’s grave.

I’ll pass it through my kidneys first.

“On second thought, let’s forget Teddy altogether.”

Excellent conclusion.

My first comment when told of his passing: “I waited all my life to hear that he had stepped down.” As a Christian, I do not mean “down” literally, but I am thankful that he no longer wields his power.

I remember the liberals and how they acted at Reagan’s funeral. I remember seeing Kennedy in the front rows. Overweight and puffy and I thought to myself that he would be one of the next to go.
When he went, I would let those who thought he was a great American have their day without making a statement one way or another. I wasn’t going participate in treating him as his commrades treated Reagan.

Having said that - My prayers are with his family and their loss, I also am thankful that we now have 59 Liberals in the Senate instead of 6o. I am thankful that one less Kennedy is serving in Congress.

Let them have their day -

This is a good one. Defines just who Kennedy really is. Everyone suffer around him because of his selfish, superior and stupid attitude. A spoiled rotten kid that never grew up and was pulled out of scrape after scrape usually hurting other people.

But I will be kind. I am sorry he suffered such a terrible disease; but he made many people suffer all of his life.

I would like to forget him too.

Yeah, I was wondering - shouldn't it be: "The Lyin' in the Senate"?

Teddy's passing reminded me of an old Irish joke:

Two Irishmen drinking in a bar...

"O'Mally, when I am dead and burried, would you
coome to me grave and poor a fine bottle of
scotch over me grave?"

"O'Brian, I'd be happy to, if only you don't mind
if I run it through me kidneys first."

The grass on Teddy's plot will not ever be green.

Didn’t he also have another person take a Spanish exam for him while at Harvard, earning him a two year expulsion (well, let’s call it a “You’re grounded” restriction — like undisciplined mothers pass out to their undisciplined teenagers).

After all, even Harvard can’t keep a good Kennedy down (since, by definition, there is no such thing as a bad Kennedy in the wonderful state of Mass).

I wonder how many women will come forward in the National Enquirer (and other tabloids) in the coming weeks to declare they had a long affair with him.

You know what’s really crazy? The IRANIANS LOVE the KENNEDYS. JFK is one of their national heroes . 20 yrs or so ago traveling thru that area I had opportunities to speak to numerous iranians on the subject. Honey, those Kennedy’s were gods to them!

My Grandfather , who was familiar as a young man with the Kennedy bunch, once told me (I was about 16 at the time), that none of them were worth a “shot of powder to blow them to Hell”. A succinct summary of the truth.

Not all Massholes are happy with our representation. To say I’m embarrassed of Teddy and Lurch doesn’t quite cover it. I’m trying to forget about him as we write, and hope to influence whoever may succeed him. It can’t get any worse, can it? Oh wait, we did elect patrick, didn’t we....

GuysHN, EXCELLENT. Well said.

Yankee, I like your method for pouring whiskey on Kennedy's grave. I'd join you except it would be unseemly for a woman! I'd be honored if you'd be my proxy.
