The first American military vaccine campaign was ordered by General Washington to protect his troops from smallpox.
It’s estimated that 500 people who got the 1976 swine flu vaccine contracted Guillian Barre Syndrome and 25 people died. In 1918 no one got a swine flu vaccine and some 50 million people died. I’ll be getting the vaccine.
“Well, our military will get it. Thats for sure. I will, too.”
You will get it voluntarily? That could be a fatal attraction. No one should get any kind of a flu shot.
As always, keep up with H1N1 update stories on this thread: H1N1 flu victim collapsed on way to hospital [Latest H1N1 updates downthread] thanks to DvdMom and others.
“No one should get any kind of a flu shot.”
Do you have a medical degree to go along with that medical advice?
“Guess we are no longer in the era of when, for instance, a doctor did the first heart cath on himself.”
Medical staff are currently taking the first doses of the vaccine to provide initial safety data.
Did somebody really do a cardiac cath on themself? The comment made me chuckle.
Sure, Doc, anything you say.
Saw it on cable. He forced his nurse to help him:
In 1929, a German surgical trainee, Werner Forssmann, experimented on a human cadaver and realized how easy it was to guide a urological catheter from an arm vein into the right atrium. He went so far as to dissect the veins of his own forearm and guide a urological catheter into his right atrium using fluoroscopic control and a mirror. With the catheter in place, he walked to the x-ray room with no ill effects to have his chest x-rayed. This made Forssmann the first to document right heart catheterization in humans using radiographic techniques. In return, he was fired from his position at the hospital and won the Nobel Prize in 1956 . . .
Medical staff are currently taking the first doses of the vaccine to provide initial safety data.
I was ticked at these "polls" the media is pushing about medical personal not wanting to take the vaccine and spoke too harshly. I'm aware doctors and nurses put themselves in danger I don't put myself in. Guess it annoyed me that the "polls" in a backhanded way denigrated the profession.

What are you talking about?I was referring to the original outbreaks of THIS strain of H1N1,you know, the one everybody`s playing chicken little over.I`d rather be inoculated with that variant of flu then get the so called vaccine for it,just give me some Tamiflu afterward and leave me alone for a few days.
“Do you have a medical degree to go along with that medical advice?”
If you trust those with MD’s, you are endangering your life and the lives of loved ones whom you might influence.
I might add that there are many in the medical community, MD’s & DO’s included, who would not themselves get a flu shot, nor would they recommend it to anyone.
I do have credentials, but not to waste them on the gullability of one who thinks anything out of a doc’s or Big Pharma’s or FDA’s mouth is to be accepted as in the best interests of the patient or the general population.
Go for the flu shot - play their roulette... :)
