I heard some rumors, that he might have quit. But announcing you are now sober would be to admit you were a drunken sot to begin with. the whole family has issues.....lots of them.
well, if Teddy’s timing wasn’t so messed up or President Bush was in his third term, he could name a Department after him.. The Department of Kennedy. Oh wait, he did, huh?
Yeah, I agree with that...the family was clearly, in my estimation, the epitome of dysfunctional. Joe P Kennedy senior was a mean old bastard that instilled utter chaos in his children. The story goes that he demanded such competitiveness that when JFK won the Navy and Marine Corps Medal for saving his crew on PT-109 and the family was celebrating, Joe Jr. (who was on leave) was upstairs sobbing in jealousy and vowing to get a more impressive medal by volunteering for the hazardous duty that eventually took his life. Joe Sr. also was a notorious womanizer, and made little attempt to hide that he was diddling Gloria Swanson and other movie starlets from his family--'course both JFK and Bobby followed suit in sharing Marilyn Monroe (and supposedly, in a new book, RFK even followed up with Jackie, his dead brother's widow). Teddy became a human wreck. The girls were mostly left alone by Joe, 'cept of course for Rosemary--she was lobotomized because she had a slightly lower than normal IQ. Tragedy seemed to follow this family horribly. Joe Jr. killed in V2 raid; Kathleen killed in plane crash next, then JFK and RFK both assassinated; John-John killed in plane crash, RFK's son DO'd, then another losing his leg to cancer, and one of the girl's son killed skiing.
