From what I've read about him, I'd say that Bush 43 was a problem drinker who stopped before becoming a full-blown alcoholic. He stopped on a dime without assistance--I don't know if that would have been possible if he had reached the stage of being a true alcoholic.

It's just too bad he didn't stop before getting the DUI...without that he might have won over 50% of the popular vote in 2000 and been in a stronger position in his first term without all the rancor left over from Gore's attempt to steal the Florida electoral votes.
