City council members are expected to consider a proposed assault weapons ban today during a special session on the G-20 Summit

As the G-20 Summit nears, Pittsburgh City Council is considering the possibility of instituting an assault weapons ban during the high-profile event.

According to our news partners at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, city officials are talking about reviving an old law that would ban those types of weapons.

If approved, the ban would likely be in effect until after the G-20 Summit ends.

City council members are expected to consider the assault weapons ban today along with many other pieces of legislation during a special session on the G-20 Summit.

Officials have been meeting nearly everyday to make plans for the summit that will bring thousands of people to the city on September 24th and 25th.

“That sounds like a challenge to me!” - Homer Simpson.

What idiots. No one was even thinking about this until the idiot left made it an issue, setting up the self-fulfilling prophecy. Too many stupid people with too much responsibility...

Assault weapons? I would be more worried about the voters were I that bunch...that is...for those countries that have an informed electorate. Duh...guess they all have nothing to worry about.

Apart from the sheer lunacy of the notion, and its anti-Constitutional import...how the hell do you implement a short term ban on anything? How does a governmental body enforce a ‘ban’ for a short period of time? House to house searches with confiscation upon discovery?

This is patently ridiculous, and just what I’d expect from the socialist DhimmiRats.

It’s time to take back the country.

So no sales on those two days? So what, just buy before it starts or after its over.

Can’t own them those two days? Hrmmm don’t have any anyways, lost em overboard while fishing.

Thing does nothing at all except scores political points with anti-gunners...and then loses them when it lifts two days later.

They can’t. Not legally.

There is a pre-emption law in Pennsylvania. Local jurisdictions cannot write their own gun laws.

Yeah, assault weapons have been a problem at past G20 summits, while anarchists and anti-globalists have been no problem at all....

As though these clown care what the Constitution says.

And from the PA COnstitution:
Right to Bear Arms - Section 21. The right of the citizens to bear arms in defense of themselves and the State shall not be questioned.

Yes. That will stop the Muslim murder teams. They wouldn’t dare violate the city’s “assault” rifle ban.

Complete violation of state law and uninforceable. I would love to be the plantiff in that lawsuit. $$$$$$$$

People who come up with this sort of crap should be keel hauled.

Why stop there? Why not suspend Habeus Corpus during the conference, as well? Or just declare martial law...
