I guess we'll just have to go back to the old local BBS (bulletin board services)we used to use before the internet came to be. There's no reason that every local member of the 'resistance' couldn't be kept informed and up to date using this method, and those on the extreme eges of their local telephone services can connect to others and so on and so on to get info across the nation. slower, yes, but that's basically how the internet began.
Hey, why not brush up on this stuff NOW? Find the software and telcom modems and start setting up boards in the next month or two. Distribute dial-in numbers through private messages to other FReepers in your state, then as things take shape, assign contacts between the groups. Keep the info off the main discussion boards.
My land line might actually be used again (Note: web outages will take out some phone networks, too - separate your phone and internet service).
Let's see, I have an old copy of Wildcat, Bluewave and some other BBS software. Trying to remember how to set up the mail tosser, need nodes/zones to put the packets through. Make local BBS dial ups with appropriate message forums. Figure out how to create and disseminate the phone numbers. Most new computers have built in modems, but the client software (I prefer Telemate) can be daunting for the new user. Could be done but there would be some 'growing pains'.
