Here is Romney trying to out liberal Ted Kennedy. Of course this was when Mitt despised Ronald Reagan and Goldwater and Jesse Helms, in other words just like now.

Ted Kennedy and Mitt Romney engaged in debate battle:

I fault them, when I fault them, for what they officially do in office that hurts the cause of conservative, constitutional government. Is your point that we should condemn them for going to the funeral? Whoa, there. Others might do so, I will not.

Ronald Reagan was friends with Ted Kennedy (and Tip O’Neil too).

No doubt if he was alive today he’d had been part of the funeral, probably doing the eulogy.

Would that make Reagan a RINO?

Obviously the poster here does not understand relationships among Washington politicians.

[ Would that make Reagan a RINO? ]

Absolutely.. You can remove the democrat from the party but its hard to remove the democrat from the democrat.. Reagan was a left leaning republican.. He approached outright traitors(most democrats) in a civil way.. Obviously that tactic was a definite MISTAKE... It set the path for future republicans to assume RINO characteristics..

Making friends with traitors sends the wrong message..
The democrat party has been performing espionage for many decades..
To the extent that all of the democrat party and most/many in the/of the republican party are espionage agents..

Both of the Bushs set the stage for a Marxist President..
MArxism is not the goal but global socialism IS..

Just because they went to a colleagues funeral does not mean they are rinos, they maybe for other reasons but not for that.

I wouldn’t hold it against any Republican who attended, particularly one from Massachusetts or one that was in the U.S. Senate or, in Arnold’s case, married into the family. It’s just the polite thing to do.

Wonder what the media would have done if George W. Bush came by to pay his respects?

In a democracy where everyone votes, you can’t just be a petty tyrant because you would never get elected, if you changed after getting in office then you would not be reelected or win any political battles and if you kept nominating petty little would be tyrants then your party would become one of the 49 meaningless little “third parties” that currently exist with less “civil” candidates.

Don’t see the point of putting Arnold on the list as he is family. Some of the Republicans have known Ted Kennedy for years in the Senate and I don’t fault them for going. I agree with you on the comments. They were even making comments when the pictures came how showing his grandkids being so sad.

I disliked his stance on issues as much as anyone but there are family members grieving for their Dad and granddad that saw him in a different light.

Senate always has a delegation of Senators attend when someone dies from the Senate. Some of them went through the Wellstone fiasco as well.

Me neither and I find it disgusting that people can't let go at a time like this.

>>>Obviously the poster here does not understand relationships among Washington politicians.

The poster understands just fine. The paulists/Chuck Baldwin loons simply can’t pass the opportunity of a cheap shot against any republican politician to the left of David Duke. Then hiding behind the cover of criticizing “rinos”.

>>>you know in the bible when it talks about the end times and people being “unhuman”. thats a lot of what I have seen on Free Republic this past week.

This farce didn’t start just this week. It’s a regular feature, at least since the primaries last year.

Thanks for that breakdown. Makes some sense to see current and former MA politicians attending along with other New England dignitaries. The list also includes MA sports team owners, presidents of MA universities and Dan Quayle (who they say arrived in a Porsche Carrera!).

Unfortunately that is true. And also unfortunately it makes the site a lot less effective and opens the opportunity to label this forum as radical.

There are good meaning people across the entire spectrum of American Society. I should be able to not agree with their philosophy and still respect them as people.

That is the point that Orin Hatch made in his speech, and a point that way to many people here don't understand.

Then we have the loon, as you so aptly put things, that called Regan a RINO.

As you also so aptly put it some of these posters think anyone left of David Duke is a RINO.

Of course they will then also wonder why their candidates can't win.
