No, I don't know Appy, I just wasn't willing to assume the worst of a fellow freeper.

BTW I just wanted to make sure you understood that the "you" and "your" in my last comment was the generic "you," not directed personally.

I not trying to condemn those who are here, just wanted to bring about some consciousness as to where out society has brought us. Sad to say we have been contaminated by those who sneer at God and make jokes about morality.

Well, okay. “To the pure, all things are pure.”

But what is so pure about taking a baseball bat to someone’s head, even if he deserves it?

In “leaving room for God’s wrath,” maybe he just shoulda broke his kneecaps.

As for me, I wish he woulda clobbered the guy.

Peace out FRiend.

God Bless Patrick Klatt for getting involved. I don’t have a baseball bat, so I would’ve had to grab something with crimson trace laser grips, instead.

The scumbag got away to rape another day. If the homeowner had a gun, that would have solved that problem permanently.

And if the scumbag had a gun, he could have killed the the homeowner and the girl.

I have a friend - a retired police chief - who from a distance, was watching a woman pack her packages and kids after shopping at Target - he could see three young men who were debating robbing her. As he watched he looked around the parking lot and saw another "sheepdog/protector" type some distance off watching the same situation. The man saluted. My friend saluted back. The young mother never knew she was being protected by two men she would never meet. The young men - who were checking out the parking lot - decided the odds weren't that good...

Just as there are bad people - there are good...often both are generally hidden.

That’s why you have to get them to turn around.

. . . maybe he just shoulda broke his kneecaps.

I thought those bats were designed and manufactured for hitting balls. (Since we're into double entendre.)

The attacker is described as a Hispanic male

This morning at breakfast in my hotel near Albany, NY, I was seated near a vacationing family from Quebec. The two little kids were jabbering away in French, and their parents were sometimes responding. I don't really understand much French, but it sure sounds nice. I told the parents I wished that if we had to be overrun by foreigners, that I wish it had been the Quebecois.

If parents don’t want people taking pictures of their kids, they shouldn’t be in public. The first amendment still applies, even to pedophiles.

If the registered sex offender is getting close enough to kids to take pics of them with his phone, he may be violating terms of his parole. Worth a call to your local police to find out!

In any case, I always think it’s worth a call to the cops just to scare miscreants, even if they can’t be locked up. Case in point: I was once nearly mugged (or worse) in Chicago while getting off the L, but luckily I got away from the guy who was stalking me. The second I got home, I called the police, and they were able to pick up the guy (who foolishly was still hanging around the L station). The cops told me later he had a laundry list of sexual assaults, none of which had kept him in jail for any time at all. At any rate, the cops INSISTED on driving him home (clear on the other side of town) and let him know that they did NOT want to see him at my L station again. He never returned.

So ... the cops couldn’t do anything since he technically hadn’t done anything, but they apparently did a good job of scaring him. Maybe your local cops could do a good job of scaring your icky neighbor?

I think it might depend on the state, but I believe that taking pictures of children is usually against the terms of a pedophile’s release.

Here is one example of a registered pedophile facing charges after being caught taking pics of kids in public...

http://www.journaltimes.com/news/local/article_0853ea4c-fce7-5098-bfce-c06418bab095.html

DEFINITELY call the local police or probation dept and find the officer in charge of this offender. No matter what the laws are in your state, the parole officer will absolutely want to know that he has been doing this...

And just how does this apply to the first amendment?

Not in Texas.

This was in the Staten Island section of New York City, which has quite different laws from Texas.

You are allowed to defend yourself with lethal force in Texas. Shooting someone running away from you in the back is not defending yourself and will get you in big trouble even in Texas. At night you can shot anyone on your property if you have reason to believe they are up to no good. There have been several unfortunate tourists that did not realize it's a very bad idea to go onto private property in Texas at night.

In my humble opinion, probably 1/4 of the people here illegally are criminal in one way or another. This is in no way scientific. That being said, the other 3/4 are humble, hard working people struggling for a better life. The 3/4, inmho, are being used in any number of ways.

I agree with this estimate. For about 3/4 of them, the only major lawbreaking is illegal immigration. Some of them might smoke a joint, or drive 55 MPH in a 45 MPH zone: in other words, the very same stuff that a lot of Anglos whose families have been here 150 years are doing.

For the other 1/4, they're committing the same serious criminal offenses that they committed south of the border: heavy duty drug dealing, gang-related violence, burglaries, rape and molestation.
