A Scary Season For Obama
Washington Post ^ | August 30, 2009 | David Broder

Posted on 08/30/2009 8:55:33 AM PDT by La Lydia

I hope that President Obama and his family enjoyed their week's vacation on Martha's Vineyard, because what he faces on his return to Washington is sheer hell. Obama confronted a daunting situation when he took office back in January, with a sickening economic slide and the real threat of financial crisis. But he was buoyed then by the momentum of his historic election victory and the widespread hope that it stirred -- even among those who had not voted for him.

He launched a series of ambitious initiatives and, while only the economic stimulus package came to quick fruition, there was a palpable sense of energy. By late summer, most of that goodwill has dissipated, the voters are feeling impatient and irritable, and a sense of stalemate has returned to the capital. Meantime, at home and abroad, deadlines are piling up in a way that will test Obama's declining supply of political capital...

I badly misjudged the broad public reaction to the angry August congressional town meetings. Instead of provoking a pro-Obama backlash, as I had expected, the town halls, amplified on sometimes hostile cable channels and talk radio, spread disquiet about what the president has in mind. And Obama's patient, didactic responses have not quieted the reaction, let alone built fresh support for a vitally needed overhaul of our expensive, dysfunctional health system.

With congressional Democrats increasingly divided between moderates nervous about the cost of reform and liberals adamant that it not be compromised, it will take a major presidential push to get this effort back on track. But the coming weeks will find Obama more than distracted by growing challenges in Iraq, Iran and Afghanistan....

Meantime, an implacable and opportunistic Republican opposition savors the prospect of victories in off-year gubernatorial elections in New Jersey and Virginia...

The Wash Post gives him more credit than he deserves.

Broder is just another fascist puppet. When we get the chance send him to Gitmo too. Let him join his friends.

Poor Obammy. Heaven forbid he should have to face anything more challenging than a walk across Harvard Yard.

David Broder is truly a brass-bound fool.

Careful now !

You know the totalitarian democrat party will NOT allow a government take over of the health care industry to just die.

GOVT MONOPOLY DEATH CARE WILL PASS LEGISLATION AND “ THE MESSIAH “ WILL SIGN IT.

That will get the momentum back into the totalitarian`s camp with the RINO party bleeting, “ Hey, we not like them. We want big government, just not that fast. So vote for us ok.”

As Washington mourns the death of Edward Kennedy, a rested but sobered president faces the toughest times he has yet encountered.

They touch upon individual crises like a stack of jobs for
The Kenyan to accomplish.
What the American people are fed up with is elected rep-
resentatives acting as if they are elitist rulers. These
a-holes need to be shown that they still work for us, not
the other way around. Vote ‘em all out in 2010 and push for
term limits for all elected office holders. Let them live
under the laws they pass, not above them.

This is due to Obammy’s own arrogance, hubris, naive amateurism and condescension.

I do hope that this smug, arrogant POS does fail along with the rest of the Dim Dhims like Pelosi, Boxer, Conyers, Jon Francois Carry, Sanders and all the rest of the socialist/commie/treasonous “liberal”, “progressive” so called Democrats.

"the town halls, amplified on sometimes hostile cable channels and talk radio, spread disquiet about what the president has in mind."

Talk radio and cable told the truth about what Obama has in mind for this nation, and the people at the Town Halls were not QUIET and TIMID about their opinions.

Broder displays his cluelessness yet again for all to see:

"Out of touch" really isn't strong enough, is it?

Yet another demonstration that those who live and work in Washington D.C. have absolutely no concept about what goes on outside the Beltway.

David Broder is a hard-core leftist who always supports Democrats -- especially the divine O. How about this one:

, ...an implacable and opportunistic Republican opposition...

You see, only Republicans are implacable and "opportunistic", as in rigid and politically devious. Democrats are never described as opportunisic.

If the polls are correct, that conservatives out number liberals in all 57(LOL) states, all we need to do is keep hammering facts into the issues. Obama is only popular with an uninformed logo and teleprompter consuming audience.

Marketing glitz is worthless once the product is purchased and it fails.

Instead of provoking a pro-Obama backlash, as I had expected

Maybe that was because you mistake the beltway cocktail circuit for the real world

All he had to do, was look at how Ronald Reagan handled similar situations. When Carter left office, we had inflation of 10+%, home interest rates were at 22+%, we had hostages in Iran and things were in a huge mess. Carter had messed up badly, horribly - there is not a single thing Carter did correct.

So, instead of looking to solutions, and acting on proven solutions - he used the situtation to make things worse, much worse.

Where Carter will go down as a horrible president, due to his micro-managment and poor decisions, President Zero will go down as an EVIL president who use his power and influence knowningly and intionally to rape the Constitution and drive the US to it’s knees, financially, militarily and internationally.

What is it about black leaders and corruption? It doesn’t matter if we are talking about Africa and the regimes there, or if we are talking about Mugabe, Jesse Jackon, Rev. Wright, or Obama and his Czars. The attitude I see with black men who gain power is the attempt to upsurp as much power as they can get, abuse those whom the can, set themselves before anyone else, and then create a situtation where they will maintain this level of power for life.

Look at the examples, Mayor Marion Barry of Washington, DC. He’s arrested how many times for cocaine while in office? He’s busted for drug based crimes, goes to jail and is elected again? How about Lousisiana and the whole Katrina joke? Graft and corruption were out in the open, and bragged about. We have the Black Congressional Caucas, who are more interested in amassing money and power than they are representing their constituents. We have the FCC Czar who wants to impose ‘Diversity’ on the radio, and impose fines of 100% of operating expenses to those who do not meet the standards he sets forth? Where in the US Constituion does this power exist? We have the Czars who openly state that they want our gov’t to run like Hugo’s Venuzlaia. These are not leaders of european desent. I mean, the examples are legion.

Mark my words, President Obama is setting the US up to either create a civil war, or weaken our defenses such that we are attacked - either way, he will impose martial law, take control of the internet, the radio waves, press and all news agencies. He will then suspend the Constitution and remain in power indefinitely. Glenn Beck has already exposed the light on several of these plans - he knows that a malevolent machine is being built, he just doesn’t know what kind of machine - other than being foreign to the US Constitution and the intentions of the framing fathers.

I suspect the worst, that way I’m prepared for the worst. I see President Obama planning nothing less than the total dismantling of the US Gov’t, replacing the balance of power to reside entirely upon him - for life.
