1963:

Encyclical of Pope John XXIII, On Establishing Universal Peace In Truth, Justice, Charity, And Liberty, April 11, 1963

“Man’s personal dignity requires besides that he enjoy freedom and be able to make up his own mind when he acts.

In his association with his fellows, therefore, there is every reason why his recognition of rights, observance of duties, and many-sided collaboration with other men, should be primarily a matter of his own personal decision.

Each man should act on his own initiative, conviction, and sense of responsibility, not under the constant pressure of external coercion or enticement.

There is nothing human about a society that is welded together by force.

Far from encouraging, as it should, the attainment of man’s progress and perfection, it is merely an obstacle to his freedom.”

“Hence, a regime which governs solely or mainly by means of threats and intimidation or promises of reward, provides men with no effective incentive to work for the common good.

And even if it did, it would certainly be offensive to the dignity of free and rational human beings.”

“Consequently, laws and decrees passed in contravention of the moral order, and hence of the divine will, can have no binding force in conscience, since ‘it is right to obey God rather than men.’”

Pope John Paul II, and now Pope Benedict XVI teach that the individual Christian’s responsibilities toward God fall in this order:

“..an authentic...theology: [is] one that puts

[1] God and the life of the spirit first,

[2] direct charitable care of others second,

[3] and only then draws consequences for a just social order.”

What would Jesus say about health care?

Jesus would undoubtedly repeat God's words, "Thou Shalt Not Steal".

Every last sylable in the WORD is Jesus’ words. With that, remember what Paul said to one of the churches.. If a man can and does not work, he DOES NOT eat. Jesus WAS and IS not for a welfare, take from the working and give to the lazy, state.

I swear, people love to make Jesus out to be the biggest, limpwristed, liberal that ever walked. The same God that you read about in the Old Testament and in Revelation, who blasts evil IS Jesus!!!!!! It is one God throughout. Too bad the world does not recognize this. What a different world it would be if they did.

How about, “Leave me the hell out of it, I’ve got bigger fish to fry?”

must be a different Bible than the one I read.

Jesus was about furthering the Kingdom of God through belief in him as the Savior, who died for our sins and was raised. He stressed belief, faith and repentance - to lead a Godly life, to love one another. And, occasionally healed someone, but even then, it was in the context of furthering the Kingdom of God, not offering healing as in setting up a client and fixing people.

Jesus was about his Father’s work - not to further an earthly kingdom. Using him to further some RAT commie tyrannical power grab is more than insulting to me as a Christian.

give a person a fish and he will eat for a day, teach a person to fish and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day

I don't have time to wade through your many screeds but this caught my eye:

You can engage in civil disobedience if it is in violation of what you see as God’s requirements on you — but — if you do so, just be prepared to “pay the consequences” to the ruling authorities, because that may be exactly what happens.

No duh. Sheesh. Very elementary.

Really, a lot of your stuff is quite juvenile.

God’s standard is 10%. However, I don’t know the exact workings of the millenial reign either. The things I do know is that everyone will profit from their own labor, and there will be no freeloaders.

Exactly! Jesus spoke of Charity, giving to the poor, he did not speak about Governments being in charge of who gives to the poor...

If we had lower taxes more could go to the churches, soup kitchens and healthcare for those who really are without it..But the GOVERNEMENT is trying to CONTROL everyone and everything..sounds to me like the NEW WORLD ORDER.

Jesus would say do what you can charitably but don't kill the will of the individual..

He might also add that “why worry about lingering here anyway, I'll be waiting”

but most definitely he would want tort reform....the few times Christ got violent it was over corruption or sacrilege.
