Justice Dept. to Recharge Enforcement of Civil Rights

By CHARLIE SAVAGE Published: August 31, 2009

WASHINGTON — Seven months after taking office, Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. is reshaping the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division by pushing it back into some of the most important areas of American political life, including voting rights, housing, employment, bank lending practices and redistricting after the 2010 census.

“I think the wounds that were inflicted on this division were deep, and it will take some time for them to fully heal,” said Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr.

As part of this shift, the Obama administration is planning a major revival of high-impact civil rights enforcement against policies, in areas ranging from housing to hiring, where statistics show that minorities fare disproportionately poorly.

President George W. Bush’s appointees had discouraged such tactics, preferring to focus on individual cases in which there is evidence of intentional discrimination.

The Return of Fannie and Freddie Freeloader Mortgages. This administration is hopeless. What a bunch of pinheads.

This is a return to quotas. If the minorities are not proportionately represented, YOU'VE GOT A LAWSUIT.

So much for 0bama being a ‘post racial’ president. The race hustlers, led by Holder, are rioting.

I am not sure the accusation about hiring is true. Minorities are well represented, and even overrepresented in certain sectors ... most notably government. Which not incidentally is about the only place to find a job these days.

Nothing more than another acorn-zero meddling expedition into every facet of life, comrade. As I pointed out earlier, the two most troubling points above are re-districting and voting rights. The dims already control the means of counting the votes in a bunch of swing states.

AND!, they are not afraid to use it, liberally.

As part of this shift, the Obama administration is planning a major revival of high-impact civil rights enforcement against policies, in areas ranging from housing to hiring, where statistics show that minorities fare disproportionately poorly.

So here we have Obama directing the Justice Department and Holder to do what the WH wants. Not unreasonable as to process since the Attorney General's job is to enforce the laws and to get orders as to what should get priority. I'm talking process, not the merits of their decisions or goals.

But when it comes to the CIA and prosecuting CIA personnel acting on orders backed up by legal opinions and the fact that both parties leadership in Congress were well aware of the goings on, then somehow Obama considers Holder as an "independent AG":

(WaPo) Obama and White House officials have said that they want to look ahead on national security; White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said last week that the administration is eager to keep "going forward" and that "a hefty litigation looking backward is not what we believe is in the country's best interest."

But the White House voiced support for Holder in a news conference held Monday on Martha's Vineyard, Mass., where deputy press secretary Bill Burton told reporters that "ultimately, the decisions on who is investigated and who is prosecuted are up to the attorney general. . . . The president thinks that Eric Holder, who he appointed as a very independent attorney general, should make those decisions."

So Obama says "I want to look forward but I can't muzzle my AG, he needs to be independent" and Holder went the weasel way with a special prosecutor.

In the end as this CIA fiasco goes forward and Obama fails on all foreign policy fronts with dangerous, idiotic directives like Miranda rights, trials in Fed court, PC military terms, coupled with deaths accelerating in Afghanistan, this CIA witch hunt will backfire in a major way. God forbid the reason it does is because of a major attack here.

The Constitution guarantees us the right to *pursue* happiness. Even God has trouble guaranteeing *happiness*. George Bush sought to provide equal opportunity. Barack Hussein wants to provide equal outcomes. GB’s goal was achieveable. BH’s is not, but having actually *done* almost nothing, he has no way of knowing this.

Too funny: we have an Affirmative Action White House, an AA Justice Dept, and we’re started toward an AA Supreme Court! Enjoy!

“We wanted to create a very transparent policy that will stand the test of time and ensure that we hire the best and brightest,” said Mark Kappelhoff, a longtime civil rights lawyer who is the division’s acting principal deputy assistant attorney general. Some conservatives are skeptical that such a policy will keep politics out of hiring, however. Robert Driscoll, a division political appointee from 2001 to 2003, said career civil rights lawyers are “overwhelmingly left-leaning” and will favor liberals. “If you are the Obama administration and you allow the career staff to do all the hiring, you will get the same people you would probably get if you did it yourself,” he said. “In some ways, it’s a masterstroke by them.” Mr. Holder has elsewhere called for social changes with civil rights overtones, like the passage of a federal hate-crimes law, the elimination of the sentencing disparity between crack and powder cocaine and greater financing for indigent defense.

This is a naked and blatant power grab (yet again) by the Obama fascists.

I am surprised they didn't generate a Reichstag fire in the Justice Dept alcove in order to try and justify this outrage, but I am certain that can come later.

So, now we know what happens when you give score settling, Marxist, atheistic, corrupt, and racist Democrats unchecked power in Washington under the guise of "Justice."

The guilty are set free, while the innocent are punished.

It is a line of prose that was written before the fall of Adam and Eve, and has been repeated by every despot and tyrant throughout the ages.

Before you see this travesty spin out of control into a race war (and that is where it might be heading thanks to Obama and his henchmen) at least we can take comfort in the fact that God is still on His throne. He will judge, and He will take vengeance so that we don't have to.

These people are going to have to answer for their crimes before His throne.

The next few years are going to be Hell in Earth in America.

Obama and his minions have "scores" to settle, and they have unchecked power.

If the minorities are not proportionately represented...

In that case, non-black people should sue about professional sports and entertainment, where blacks are represented way beyond their numerical proportion.

I can't remember the exact story but the NYT has a new term for the dismissal of the case against the New Black Panther Party scoundrels: "downsizing of the charges". No details about the dismissals or how the one guy is forbidden to wield a weapon within 200 feet of a polling place WHICH IS STILL ILLEGAL ANYHOW.

If they can cause enough confusion and create enough kaos the bigger agendas will sail right through, theme and diversion slick commies at work.

Get the DBM chatting about anything and everything but health care, cap and tax and the borders and these agendas are now viable again.

This is so true. By bringing the full power of the US Attorney General and Federal Govt into vigorous enforcement of civil rights requires a translation.

What this means is that local governments and private enterprise will be so sh*t scared that they would resort to unlawful quotas in hiring practices from housing to employment. In fact, it has already begun.

This is the last item on the left-wing agenda. And, I am not white! So why don’t we see 0’s poll numbers drop to the 30s? Aaah! The brainwashed 18-29 year-olds who voted 66% for 0, and single white women, unmarried, divorced, widowed or separated who according to Gallup voted overwhelmingly for 0! Go figure.
