Corinth, Mississippi. I called my daughter’s school and expressed my opinion to the Principal. The Principal said that we are still here and conservative and will not put it on. Ironically, several parents had called and were not happy with what is coming down the pike.
Would you suggest any modifications?
Dear Board Member:
I am a local resident and opposed to President Obama politicizing students on Tuesday, September 8, 2009. The speech will be broadcast live on the White House website www.whitehouse.gov 12:00 noon eastern standard time. Normally, I would not be opposed to such an address however, the planners could pick a better day and their is no provision made for opposing views to be considered or even discussed in the proposed lesson plan.
Therefore, I demand to know for each school whether the speech will be shown or if teachers will be given the discretion to show this to the children without opposing views presented. I will follow up with you to secure this information and report this information to the press. This type of thing is of significant interest to the local community. I know those in favor of showing it will say it is appropriate yet the underlying subtle policy goals militate against the school being a forum for such propaganda.
Thank you for your consideration. Here is a link to a Fox News article on the issue.
