STATEN ISLAND, NY, Sept. 2 /Christian Newswire/ -- Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, commented today on the pending Montana Supreme Court case that could establish a so called state constitutional right to assisted suicide.

"Assisted suicide is an act that violates the victim's dignity," said Fr. Pavone.  "It is a declaration that a person's life is worthless and devoid of respect.  If the Montana constitution states that the dignity of every human is inviolable, then there can be no room in that constitution for the protection of a fabricated 'right' that threatens the very existence of the disabled and medically vulnerable."

Isn't it really a declaration--by the person who wishes to die--that their OWN life is no longer worth living and that they wish their suffering to be ended mercifully? There's no dignity in being unwillingly forced by law into a lingering death or death by violent suicide. None that I can see, anyway.

“It is a declaration that a person’s life is worthless and devoid of respect.”

It is a slippery slope (Duh!!). I believe that there are lives that are worthless and not deserving respect. Included are the soulless bastards that rape and murder children, serial killers, etc. It’s a short hop from “Everybody deserves the right to live.” to doing away with the death penalty for those who truly deserve to die!

That’s not moral relativity, that’s justice!
