Obama administration backs off call for students to 'help' Obama
Examiner Washington, D.C. | September 3, 2009 | Dan Spencer

After a fierce controversy over what many perceived as an effort to indoctrinate students, the White House says it will rewrite the government recommendation that teachers nationwide assign students a paper on how to "help the president."

According to the Washington Times, Obama aides acknowledged the White House helped the U.S. Education Department craft recommended activities to be assigned to students after they watched Obama's address: Among the activities the government initially suggested for prekindergarten to sixth-grade students: that they "write letters to themselves about what they can do to help the president." Another task recommended for students immediately after listening to the speech: to engage in a discussion about what "the president wants us to do."...

President Obama still plans to "inspire" the nation's schoolchildren with his video address next week. The Obama White House continues to display its amateurism. Presidential aides should have seen that the recommended activities would be perceived as unwarranted politicization of Obama's video address to the nation's schoolchildren.

They got caught pulling their "Cult of Personality" stunt. And I agree this is a display of rank amateurism.

First of all, they want to wear us down with stunts like this, second, it’s too late, they have already given teachers permission to have their way with our kids minds; third, he has surrounded himself with radical loons that cook up all these outrageous pranks and then he finds out it’s making HIM look bad and he has to back pedal.
Good keep back-peddaling..sleep with dogs, wake up with fleas Mr. O.

They keep trying and trying and trying.

We have to be 100% effective to stop them.

If we are wrong, and fail just a few times - just a few, they get their message out.

Horsefeathers! They have not backed away from anything. They will just disgguise it better in the future.

My problem is that it isn’t just going to be top-down instruction. With what we know to be a very liberal education system, how will the local instruction take this lead, even when withdrawn by the White House?

As far as the public schools go, I think they HAVE got their message out, and Dear Leader is worshipped as a deity in many of them.

Best course of action is to “eliminate” the U.S. Department of Education. A totally worthless institution.

The State Education agencies are much closer to scrutiny of the citizens.

We do not need the agency of Propaganda for Brainwashing.

National Science Research is another matter, as long as it is not a political agency.

Bad enough that these people propose this big brotherish type stuff. Then at the slightest pressure they back down. Shows they have little will. Which in this case is a good thing!

I don’t know what happened. I copied and pasted that link, I thought, but when I posted it didn’t show up. What can I say? I am extremely low tech.

Worth repeating and remembering.

Must be a Michael Jackson fan. He’s getting good at doing the political moon walk.
